and TDP43, there are FUS, Profilin, C9orf72, VCP, ANG, and ubiquilin 2. Yes,
all known fALS are about 5-10% of all ALS.
Unfortunately, knowing or not-knowing the mutation doesn't do much to
prevention of the disease because there is not yet cure to any of those.
I am very sorry and helpless to say that. |

发帖数: 627 | 16 Many 单基因遗传病 are even close to be clear, especially those
neurodegenerative diseases. We know mutation or deletion of SMN1 cause SMA.
We know what mutations of FUS, TDP43, sod1, profilin, vcp and expansion of
C9orf72 etc.... cause ALS. We know what polyQ expansions cause huntingtin
disease, SCA1, 2, 3, 6, 7 etc... We have almost zero idea why those
alterations cause toxicity and hence neuron death. |
