发帖数: 487 | 2 呵呵，我还真没多少经验可谈,不想误导大家。实事求是地说，是孩子自己比较好，说
来惭愧，我自己在孩子身上没下太多功夫。比如这次写essay,early action的essay我
只是大概看了一下，一点都没改。Early action的MIT的essay我是到交上去才看得。看
完了觉得写得不太好，不过已经没法改了。而且她给她的college counselor 看过了，
后者所没啥问题。后来MIT EA 被defer了我才认真地帮她看了其它学校的申请essay.
她其实也不是很认真的人。有两个小插曲，一个是她申请的时候common application的
Social Security number都填错了，以至于现在Harvard的financial aid都没搞定。还
有一个是申请材料差点没有及时交上去。所有申请是通过一个commonapp.org的网站提
交的。她先把材料填好，我检查一遍，然后我用信用卡付申请费，付完了还要回到另一
页submit才算完成。她只叫我付费，我付完了以为就行了（缺了最后一步），她也没来
检查（这些孩子递出申请后就不想再看第二遍了）。截止日是12/31,... 阅读全帖 |

感觉好幸福，看到老妈笑容，骄傲又操劳的妈妈，总算是尘埃落定地轻松了，总算能手
拿小说，在沙滩上看我们划艇。还有在世博开会的老爸，坚强的爱护孩子的老爸，看到
许多来到美国之后支离破碎的家庭，我觉得我们家好幸运。这个暑假会很棒。

妈刚写信说，我外婆已经去了两次世博了。每天人很多，30多万人次。昨天半天就超过
40万。好热闹。
我在国内看到的支离破碎的家庭更多一点。主要是因为国内认识的人更多些。是挺惨的
。每次听人说要离婚，都不知道该怎么办，是劝离还是劝合，怎么都不是。
好哎，时不时跟我们说说暑假的好玩事。小学中学时还有暑假作业，我总是几天内全部
做完。我外公每次都问邻居借来下学期的语文和数学书让我提前学。 |

发帖数: 156 | 9 What I found is that the nicest professors generally come from the upper middle class families. The same is true for the nicest doctors. They are most willing to volunteer. I know an ABT who is an infectious disease specialist. She travels a lot to 3rd world countries. She was the valedictorian in her high school and went to the top 5 under and med schools. To top it off, she taught 1 yr English in China. |

我老板(白人) 两个女儿 一个 UTMB (德州最好的) PT 毕业 在Austin 找到 四个
part time 工作 每个工作 都是per diem, 就是一个月工作一两天的样子 四个工作
加在一起 一个月才工作两个礼拜 而且没有福利 医疗保险还是挂在我老板下面 但是
26岁以后就必须自己买了
她现在保住四个工作很不容易 而且每次工作都要commute 很远 总是担心四份工作会不
会 schedule 搞乱之类的 出一次差错就很大麻烦 她还是valedictorian 的优异生呢
又是白女 家里又有钱 学费都是老爸全部付清的 即使这样 也就这样了
另一个女儿是药剂师 PharmD 毕业 学费花了我老板二十多万 毕业待业一年多了 现
在靠老爸和男朋友养着 现在连面试都拿不到了 我老板现在就自我解嘲至少将来生病
的话两个女儿都算专家 花的学费算是将来养老费的提前透支罢了 |

背景的话我想我的成绩跟很多其他这里的中国人会逊色很多。。
我的 PCAT 成绩 很一般 就80多%。是本科毕业的 valedictorian。有leadership 经验
。 是个药房的full-time technician. 本科的时候做过RA, 做过两个 NSF 的 summer
researches. 还做过很多个社区服务， 比如 New York Cares, Food Bank,
hospitals.
我当初申请学校的时候申请了很多学校 差不多 10多所吧，而且都是在东岸的。我当初
申请的时候 没有去看学校排名， 就只看看我的pre-requisites requirement， 差不
多match 的话我都申请。 因为我听别人说 pharmacy school is very competitive.
所以当时希望里面有一所收我的话就很开心了。 不过后来到supplemental
application 的话 我就 只有completed like 6 schools。 因为很多学校的
