发帖数: 588 | 8 一年一度的签证活动，今年又进行了。ottawa那个冷啊，不过也比纽约下雪强。
今年的签证系统改了，预约变得容易多了，也不用刷号了。但是据说toronto montreal
都会等很
久才能取回护照，而且能预约到的也很晚了，所以还是一咬牙来了ottawa. 新系统允
许用信用卡付
费，不用跑银行了。
之前有一个一次的加拿大签证，这回也终于学会了当多次使用。虽然中间去了cruise但
是护照上没
有盖章，至于其他出了美国但仍从美国入境加拿大的我就不清楚了。不过我上次用这个
加拿大签证的
时候他看的似乎是我之前过期的加拿大签证（汗），这回才在我的签证上划来划去的。
还是在hotwire上定的downtown的酒店，加税60左右。这回也学乖了一概在scotiabank
取钱加花
加元的american express (可以在美国用美元还）
还是表一下吃喝玩乐。我这回又盛情回顾了那个french bakery + bunny's bistro,仍
然非常
可圈可点。另外还吃了一个摩洛哥菜也很不错，不过要过河在uptown. ottawa的
shawarma似乎也

再看看我们两的email，问题好象就是出在local ASC office上。唉，这个地方真是
corrupted到骨头了（我的美国同事说的）。

发帖数: 18037 | 17 加拿大的越南菜是我吃过最好吃的。当年越南沦陷，貌似加拿大是收容最大批的越南难
民的国家之一。所以加拿大的越南菜非常道地，连小小家餐馆都做得特别好吃。我以前
住加拿大的时候，最爱吃越南菜，几乎晚晚以越南菜做晚餐。
以前我小的时候，纽约曼哈顿唐人街的越南餐馆也不少，东西也很好吃，现在没那麽好
了，反而越南菜现在往uptown发展，变成高级餐馆级的菜色了。前两年还有个做得很大
的越南餐馆被员工告薪资方面的纠纷，後来好像被迫关门。真可惜，那家真是好吃死了
，每次去都是挤死人。 |

可以延期，不用换新。但是同样的护照 ，有的人因为照片是打印上去的，被要求换新
护照 。建议所有有打印照片的同学亲自到纽约延期，以免麻烦。
建议过期六个月内尽早办，下次过期时间是上次过期时间加六个月，没有晚延期的意义
延期时如果下午1:30-1:45pm在大使馆延期，仍能交40$当天取。
延期护照时，6：45到chinatown, 乘sunshine的shuttle bus 7am出发，大约
12am到NYchinatown (139 Canal St), 找到在canal st上的地铁，乘n,q,r,w中
的任意一地铁线到time square.注意要乘uptown的方向，不要乘downtown的方向。
time squre下来，可以走20min (大约五条大街的样子。1mile), 走到42nd St,与
12 ave 交口，交口的东北角第一楼就是大使馆。如果要求当天取，可以2:30左右拿
到 ，能乘4pm 车回boston, 9:30pm左右到boston. 不要求当天取照就要加5$
处理费，把带邮资 |

Hilton Times Square, 四星级，才$150.
2.要省钱，去 uptown 的 YMCA hostel, 在 Amsterdam Ave上，很便宜，每天要换房间。
3.折中的话，住 New Jersey, Jersey City 或 Fort Lee 都可以，住的不错，就是来
回Manhattan不太方便，住Fort Lee 的要赶末班车，不然就得打的，住Jersey City 有
PATH,很晚也有车。
4.据说Flushing有家庭旅馆，不过不推荐。 |

街路口附近。
你下车的地方如果是在31街和8道的话，并没有很方便的去加拿大使馆的车可坐。如果
一定要坐车的话，走到34街和8道的Penn Station坐往Uptown去的E线到7 AV下，再走过
去。
其实从你大巴下车地点到使馆，步行距离我估计应该不会超过2公里吧。从31街到50街
，有19个街区。听上去很吓人，但每个街区都很小，走走很快的。你只要先顺着31街从
8道走到6道，然后左转一路往上，看看路边的风景，一下子就到50街了。
曼哈顿很小，基本都可以靠步行解决。 |

better than one of the Dr. I used in the past. She go to Morehead location
where it's near uptown. 704-446-1700 to make APT.

Uptown, Metz, pretty cool, new restaurant in Epic center. There is a new
Asian restaurant also in the same center. There are also Movie theater and
Blowing.
There is horse riding around ctr city that the kid maybe like it. Ctr is not
too big though. |

to save parking fee and other headache. especially you are not familiar w/

Or live at north and north east university area.
it is not that scary. a very beautiful and peaceful city.
as long as you avoid west part of the town and immediate north of the

比较好的APARTMENT有DILWORTH WALK, 高档次的,附近也有好几个.

UPTOWN正中心走路也行, 或者坐SHUTTLE, 几分钟就到. |

南面开车大概10分钟的样子，走local不堵车，挺好的。我住的房子两室一厅550一个月
还免第一个月租。不过开车上班要找地方停车，好在downtown那里很多停车场earli
bird只要4，5块钱，算下来比住在市中心还是合算的多 |
