重新申请F-1，申请人要用I-539表和递交$120的申请费。 转换
学校 如果一个F-1学生从一个学校转到另一个学校，F-1学生不
须向移民局提出任何申请。新的学校只须给学生签发一个新的I-
20，然后通知移民局和学生的前一个学校即可。第一个学校不需
在事前作任何事情，只需在事后被新的学校通知即可。
转换学校的步骤如下：
1)新的学校发给学生新的I-20表格；
2)学生通知现在的学校他要转换学校的意图；
3)在到达新学校15天之内，学生必须填好I-20表A和B页，交给学
校；
4)学校在收到学生的I-20A和B表30天之内，通知移民局的处理中
心。
在同一学校从一个专科转到另一个专科不须通知移民局。
F-1学生一般不能打工。但是在特殊情况下，F-1学生可以向移民
局提出打工的申请。如果学生没有移民局野i而打工，将失去F-1
学生身分。学生可以提出工作的申请如果学生能证明不能预测的
经济需要的话(unforeseen economic necessity)。

当年也是半年内两次飞中美航线都被United霸道对待过。本来之前都是以United为主，
后来就不坐它了。
两次事件都是我和老婆带着不满周岁的女儿，这是背景。
事件一
也是发生在芝加哥机场。从国内飞芝加哥转机boston。boston那几天正大雪，基本处于
大雪的尾声。然后芝加哥机场直接说飞不了，这也可以理解，但是人家把我们的机票改
签到了3天后！由于天气原因也只是给我们推荐了个酒店（报美联航倒是有折扣价），
自己和酒店联系bus来机场接，美联航概不负责！
我也是去找United的工作人员，晓之以情动之以礼，比如带着4个月大的孩子很艰苦之
类，能否改签早一点的航班。人家United的人总之答复起来首先态度让你觉得很蛮横，
然后就是，全部停飞3天，没法提前！

不可谓不惊险，也不可谓不无奈。权当是给各位申请的战友茶余饭后放松一下心情吧。
不同于版上大多数理工科同学，我是冷门文科系。以前是从未想过自己可以够得上任何
一条申请申请标准，但无奈世事艰难，我不得不硬着头皮上。找了几个律师，基本上不
是不接case，就是劝我NIW。可我当时的情况没法再等了（学校的H1B还有4个月到期）
，于是我坚持要作EB1A。现在想来，当年的蜜汁自信也不知是从何而来。
终于等到有个律师认为我这个case大概有50%的通过率。就这样我在没有退路的情况下
开始了我的漫漫征程。准备i140是花了些功夫的。找了律师，但自己也全面参与了所有
reference letter，petition letter 的撰写和修改。由于自身条件实在不过硬，我就
通过各种角度找亮点，深层次挖掘。并用大量浮夸的事实，表格，数据佐证。比如我有
本合著的书，一点引用也没有，但是我发现全世界各大图书馆都有收录，于是就把这个

最后，预测一下the Big One的epicenter, 想必是去年（10/30/07）的Magnitude 5.4
event near Alum Rock处无疑，因为this event (/30/07 Magnitude 5.4 event near
Alum Rock)，将弯曲最危险的Hayward fault （现在处于150年的窗口期）与另一条大
致沿I-680走向的Calaveras fault连在一起。不过，南湾鬼谷的同学大可放心，大部分
鬼谷的office buildings都不太高，且不少是1995年后建造的。再加上大部分鬼谷的
single family houses也是1995年后建造的，均符合1995年发布的新抗震规范的要求。
只是在最危险的是三藩及Oakland的Downtown的high-rise office buildings上班的各
位，小心驶得万年船，take care.
