今日中国社会还有值得人为之舍命的信仰吗?今日中国社会中还有为信仰
甘于舍命的良知分子吗?从根本上而言,中国改革所面对的问题不是经济的问题,也不
是政治的问题,甚至也不是法律的问题,而是人格的问题,而人格的塑造直接涉及到信
仰的问题。一位中国著名的知识分子强调:“中国人的悲哀就是没有上帝的悲哀!”
1911年辛亥革命、1919年五四运动,转眼百年的光阴已经转眼消失。百年中国血泪斑斑
的历史表明,抽象的“德先生”(democracy,民主)和“赛先生”(science,科学)
,具体的“洋务运动”和“经济改革”都不能从根本上解决中国的问题。当然,形形色
色的与中国民间宗教混合的基督教也不是中国问题的答案,笔者深信加尔文及其神学思
想必然能够给中国文化的更新带来一股强有力的清流,除污涤垢,吐旧纳新,使中国文
化浴血重生,再次焕发出新的活力。正如余杰先生所深思和强调的那样:“新教入华两
