我现在读PhD有几个research area的选择:
1)一个是有关处理化石燃料尾气的化学合成(Ionic Liquids)；
2)一个是chemical biology，具体说来就是RNA structure and therapeutics，也涉及
到biophysics(optical tweezer)；
3)还有个是metabolic engineering,说变了就是genetic engineering，molecular
biology之类的（本科做多了，不想干）
我现在纠结于未来找工作前景和自己的兴趣熟练之间，希望化学版前辈们在这两点帮忙
分析分析
我的想法如下：
2和3应该是自己比较了解的领域，2是比较中意也合适的但是会担心不好找工作；
1好像应用性强，但是做的是不太熟悉，导师也会有这个顾虑。 |

bit, use a tweezer to push the part onto the pads and use a fine tip to
melt the tin on the pads.
sot23 parts can be done this way too.
for multi-pin chips, I coat the pcb with solder paste (mostly solder but
also some flux), put on the part, and use a hotair gun to melt the paste.
the trick is to use the right amount of paste: if you used too much, you can
always wipe them off with a fine multi-strand copper wire. it d |

发帖数: 445 | 7 如果你后面是连着大号的heatsink，那么别人讲的应该有道理，你要换一个大尺寸的烙
铁，我手边有的最宽的有0.1英寸宽的烙铁头，在digikey上貌似还有更大号的，温度有
个700F，或者好点的800F也就够了。
solder tweezer要专门买的，不是每个牌子都有这个东西貌似，就是两个烙铁做成镊子
，两头加热，对于2脚的器件完全是神器，一夹就下来，多脚的就没办法了。。用铜丝
网应该可以，只要不嫌麻烦，前两天我卸一个14脚的变压器就是和技工两个人折腾了半
天。用hot air pencil也可以，转着转着吹，下面拿镊子轻轻的拔，应该也可以下来 |

实现的。这个是无论光镊，磁井，还是我用的micropepette都一般采用的方法。
光镊或者磁井一般是通过生化反应在dna一端连上小球，另外一端连在处理国的玻
璃片上。我正使用的pipette是在dna两端都连上小球，用两根微管各自捕获一个
小球。通过移动这两根微管就能实现在3-d中对dna的各种力学操作。 |

朱棣文的贡献还是在实验物理上，
发展了laser cooling, laser tweezer之类的工具，
做了些比较smart & neat的实验而已。
你要是做biophysics的，
问问知道Micheal Sheetz和Carlos Bustamante么？
还有UPenn的Discher, Janmey?

机dye labeled到一个生物分子上,有一些imaging, 看到了FRET应用到单分子上的可行
性,而完全没有study任何生物方面的内容,因为很多技术问题(比如CCD能够real time的在程序控制下做不同dye之间的colocalization)都还没有解决.而后面的1999年的PNAS才study了RNA的conformational change. 是在Chu lab完成的,而后Steve很快解决了很多技术困难下,推广到更多的体系,包括protein-nucleic acid interactions. 你可以问任何一个single molecule领域的人,Simon Weiss和Steve Chu谁在smFRET的contribution更大.

昨天读了篇文章 Two-particle quantum interference in tunnel-coupled optical
tweezers
A. M. Kaufman et al 2014 Science
感觉很牛掰的样子，我能看懂OT的原理（wiki上有公式，dipole trapping），不过没
明白cooling 的 atom的原理（wiki上没有公式，文字没太看懂，用 低频光给相向而来
的atom减速，怎么减的）
还有就是 single atom的image 也没看懂（好像他没写上）
如果有人看过这篇，请您给讲讲 cooling 和 image 的parts？
