NEW YORK (Reuters) - A humbled John Paulson told investors on Thursday he
was "too aggressive" with some of the stock bets in his flagship funds and
he is trimming back some of his riskiest holdings.

of them.
2. SRPT. 37%. only a small position left from the bottom fish back in Nov.
it has gained 150% .
10. NMBL 27.5%. mentioned many time on the board. my gain on NMBL is over 40%
14. WBAI 24.5%. as NMBL, both mentioned repeatedly on the board, and quite

The Dow climbed 330 points on Friday in another extremely turbulent day of
trading. At one point the index was down 500 points. At another it was up
500.

虽然俺所有的T-shirt都很破,早上起来还是选了一件比较烂的穿上.上次飞行的时候,
教练说只要这次连做3个漂亮的起降,就放俺solo.这几天在模拟机上狂练,已经基本能
稳定的在15节直接侧风和severe turbulence的情况下做标准stall-down landing.
给 FSS打电话做weather briefing. 情况良好,科州平原地带都是高压区,没有airmet/
sigmet.早早来到机场,做好了飞行前检查.居然只剩3个小时的Tachometer time就要到
100小时检查了.而且航校说貌似Hobbs也出问题了,比实际时间多,叫教练注意用手表核
对时间.
于是大家就上了飞机, 开车,滑行,试车一切正常.基本没风,就从静风跑道33起飞.刚
到300AGL做了起飞后检查就发现今天还是有点轻微t

元旦聚会的时候trajan说1月份天气不适合飞行, 不幸一语成谶, 由于天气原因我的
instrument rating checkride日期一改再改,不是大风湍流,就是雨雪低压. 昨天上午
做了口试, 中午的时候到处都是25G39, 只好取消了飞行部分.
考官是个非常耐斯的老太太. 口试远比想象的简单, 所有我关注的各种难偏怪题一个没
问. Instrument rating口试中故意为难人的题目是有名的花样繁多, 比如各种奇怪的
近进程序, 让人眼花的missed程序, GPS进近MDA下面有和没有灰色斜线有什么区别,或
者一个明确写明不能做为仪表备降机场的机场什么情况下可以做为仪表备降机场之类,
等等等等. 老太太问的基本都是一些经典教科书类的问题, 稍微要让人想的一下... 阅读全帖

飞机遇到湍流的时候连训练有素的空姐都会撞成植物人
更别说没有经验的老人了
所以坐飞机不懂的旅客一定不能随便解开安全带,更不能随便起来走走

Everyone has their opinions and preference. In general many people would say
hang gliders are safer because of their rigid frames, while paragliders can
collapse. The max, min speed allowable, tolarence for turbulance, G force
rate is higher in hang glider. Also you can't aertow a paraglider, therefore
you can't paraglide on plain or flat terrains, such as the regions around
AA, Novi, Flint, etc.
But paragliding and foot launching is easier and cheaper to learn.

Tandem kayak is really meant for 2 comparably strong boaters to do strong
currents that single boat finds hard to paddle.
The 1 strong + 1 less skilled combination overloads the strong one even at
flat water. In turbulent rapids, the less skilled unavoidably becomes too
much a liability for the strong to handle. And the outcome is clear:
capsizing.

CDOs 和 CMOs 很相似, 不过 CDO 的范围大点, 都是把债(债券)的风险分类然后卖给投
资人. IB 在这次mortgage crisis 里只不过是中间人,或者是反应里的催化剂.这次的
crisis 的源头是银行的借贷过于松懈,归根到底是政府对两房监管不严. 如过有数据显
示那些 defaulted loans 房子,绝大部分都是这几年从2000-2006买的. 这段时期,一个
没有收入的人可以不给首期轻松的从银行里借到 六十, 七十甚至八十万去买房子...这
本身就是个很大的问题.但是,出了事情就要找个人出来背黑锅..呵呵...IB 的人赚钱最
多, 也是crisis 里面的一个环节...那些 law makers 不会说自己的错,矛头就向着 IB
...
Alan Greenspan 是一个挺厉害的人, 但是他在他的书 The Age of Turbulence 里说他
看不到美国不像日本,不会有 mortgage crisis....刚出了书, crisis 就来了..
