上ford的车设计本来容易roll over，就不行了。看来两方面都有问题。

2) All-weather tires with mud and snow (M/S) mark with 1/8” of tread
3) Four-wheel drive with 1/8” of tread
4) Traction devices (chains, auto-sock, etc.) for two drive tires
四驱with 1/8 inch tread (a relative new tire) is good enough.
The law suggests the AWD (without snow tires) and snow tires (without AWD)

There are several popular ways to check your tire tread depth. One easy way
is the penny test. Simply insert a penny into your tire's tread groove with
Lincoln's head upside down and facing you. If you can see all of Lincoln's
head, your tread depth is less than 2/32 inch and it's time to replace your
tires.

The material costs around $2000-$3000 with pre-milled tread returns (if you
buy oak treads, railings and newels but everything else pine. I don't think
you can use the existing treads under the carpet, they are probably just
pine...
It takes two people at least 5 days to finish the carpentry and painting job

the tread better. If you rotate the wheel along its radius
by 180 deg, and the tread pattern does not change, it's non-
directional tire. If the tread patterns on the inside and outside
are mirror image to each other, and you see triangle/arrow
shaped pattern pointing toward the wheel rotation direction,
the tire is directional. This is not the same as the directional

首先说一下为啥买quest。。。
最后成交价成了27000我们觉得比较满意。首先vw的routan给我们$27000 Premium
after tread in 其实他们的package 要比Nissan 的好 最后我们没选他主要是三个个
原因
第一是 vw一共就签了5年合同今年是最后一年。以后routan还有没有继续的产品我不知
道。看样子不太可能有。如果没有这车的贬值速度会相当的快。
第二，大家都知道routan是克莱斯勒的车，一个克莱斯勒的车， vw的dealer给你修我
觉得不太靠谱。
第三，但是我去试车的时候这辆premium电池电量不足打不着火。这说明他们这车放在
那有一段时间了而且都没人看。当时那个dealer也比较牛逼，我说我听说现在有

construction, manufacturer, band, tread pattern, degree of wear, speed
symbol and load index。否则不只是power train的问题，会影响操控和制动性能，换
句话说是安全隐患。刚去翻了翻yaris的owner manual，用词是"do not mix ... tread
pattern or tread wear"，否则lead to fatal or injury accident。 |

225mm是宽度，45是侧壁占宽度45%，也就是约100mm，轮圈直径17英寸=430mm，轮胎总
直径630mm。
这个轮胎tread深度10/32英寸=8mm，而轮胎允许的最低tread是1.6mm。所以，轮胎新旧
之间直径差异最大大约是13mm。当然，轮胎打气程度也会影响直径，假设这个影响跟
tread程度是类似数量级，给它10mm的影响。合起来一共23mm，相对于630mm占0.37%。
在70mph的速度下，0.37%的影响等于0.26mph。也就是说，轮胎尺寸+打气程度合起来的
最大影响，仍然比速度表2-3mph的差异小一个数量级。 |

depth小于或等于2/32in, 但是没有跑到这个warranty mile数，厂家或者销售商应该
refund一些credit啊？
还有这个2/32in 是不是应该是轮胎磨损最严重处的tread depth 而不是平均tread
depth？

一年前在 discount tires 买了四个新轮胎，每个 $87，号称 85,000 mile warranty
。一直定期做 rotation/balance，开了大概 21,000 miles。最近发现 tread 只剩 3/
32 了。于是去 discount tire 换胎。
我问小二能拿回多少 credit，他说每个轮胎能拿回 $22 credit。我说不对吧，我开的
mileage 一半不到，$87 只能拿回 $22？他说这是电脑根据所剩下的 tread 算出来的
。我说“如果剩下 0 tread 呢？那是不是一分钱 credit 不给？”。他想了想，就给
了我每个轮胎 $43.5 的 credit。说我赚了，这是半买半送(50% off)。
当时赶着上班，就没跟他较真。回到公司，拿出计算器算了一下。85k warranty 我开
了 21k，那应该给我 75% 的 credit 啊。再打电话去问小二，他满口答应。

Minivan 的轮胎，磨损比较快，这是人所周知了。FR710 号称 65k miles warranty。
我去 dealer 做 15k-mile maintenance 的时候就说已经剩下 4/32 了（剩下 2/32 就
必须更换了）。
于是打电话给 Firestone 的客服，希望能拿点 store credit。他们说这种随车装配的
轮胎，不在他们 warranty 范围之内。扯皮了一阵子，又说让我开到他们的服务站(
Firestone Complete Auto Care)检查一下。
开过去之后，他们的 store manager 爱理不理的，估计这种 case 没什么油水，功夫
反而很多。给我量了 tread depth 之后让我回去等消息。
后来打电话说，我的 tread wear 磨损不均匀，要我做 alignment 才给 credit。我问
有多少 credit，他说大概 $300。

坑爹啊。。。毛估估tread明明至少还有5/12"...或以上，俺不是工科，这个测量可能
不准，不过离tread depth indicator还差老远。。。
粗看了一下几个轮子，比划了一下，至少没有明显的内外侧磨损不均（which doesn't
suggest alignment issue), 也没有明显的前轮后轮磨损不均（which doesn't
suggest rotation is not properly done)
看起来问题不大
估计是拿着promotion去要求做rotation，他们觉得没赚头。。就不做了。。。找个借
口忽悠俺
