Traditional IRA contribution。你这个收入可以直接存Roth IRA；最好就把当时的

for people in low tax bracket like OP, ROTH is still the best bet. Since
traditional and ROTH IRA share the same $5K limit, I'd suggest to max out
ROTH for both OP and his spouse if they can. you may also eligible to
receive savers credit for doing so (form 8880). |

to traditional IRA you won't be able to contribute to ROTH at all. For
people in 15% marginal tax rate bracket (most postdocs) ROTH is preferred.
2. that's another good reason to get married //hoho.
Your income limit gets bumped up to $55,500 to get savers credit if Married
Filing Jointly.

-tax $8000。存入的钱是税后的，我们当时填了相应的表格,表明我们存了税后的
traditional IRA。
现在两个account里面分别有$5500和$8300（管理的不好, 不如不存）。
去年将两个account分别rollover成了Roth IRA。收到了两张1099R form。
怎样报税？
(1) 存的$16000是税后的钱.
(2) 一个rollover时损失了$2500。一个是赚了$300。
(3) 损失的可以claim loss吗？损失的部分以前没有claim loss，因为在IRA里面没有
办法claim loss.
(4) 赚的$300似乎要交税。赚的部分以前也没有报税，也因为IRA account。
请有类似情况的人给指点指点。谢谢了。 |

你放了5500进traditional IRA， 你这5500没有上过税。convert 到Roth后，这5500要

brokage说：
（1）把2008年多投了一部分拿出来。就是只投3020在roth，要交10%的premature
withdrawal的罚款；
(2)把超过的转成traditional ira。因为我只有$3020可以是tax deductable的，所以
我可以把$3020转成tradtional，留$1980在roth，这样的好处是，今年补税可以少补$
1000左右；
（3）carry the contribution to next year.就是claim这部分多的是2009年的。可是
这样要给IRS交6%的罚款。
对了，我的roth里面没有cash，都买了Mutual fund，都跌了很多。
我是新手，第一次遇到这样的问题。不知道到底应该怎么办啊？大侠帮帮忙。谢谢。 |

现在付税以后不付，一个是现在不付以后付税。现在和退休后的
税一样的话就一样。
现在的税率，你大体知道，基本上是你的marginal fed + state tax.
退休以后的税，看那时的法律和你每年拿出多少钱。如果你预计到时候
会高，那么现在缴税，用roth合算。
但记住，退休后你可以搬家来躲开税高的地方。 |

我09年开始工作，老婆学生，两个人年收入大概150K左右，
因此进了28%的tax bracket。刚刚用turbotax粗粗算了一下，
要补交4000的fed income.
请问向我们这种情况，是不是应该两个人都开traditional IRA
(我们已经有roth IRA),然后放满10K,然后roll over去现有的
roth?但是在roll-over的过程中要交税吧？
这样的话大概能省多少税？如果去掉1万的话应该在137K一下，所以
能降到25%的tax bracket.
