Root is different from nerve(in pulp). The hole may be
close to crown pulp. My suggestion is solve the tooth
problem first. Most doctor do their best for patients.
That's their duty. But they should not be responsible
for your risk. If you don't trust him, have another
doctor.
Payment is another thing, you only received the notice from
insrurance company, right? Why don't you ask office assistant

牙医做过x-ray，没有蛀牙。说是下面有一个洞，导致细菌感染，原因说是可能是外力
导致
牙齿松动。有两种治疗方法：其一为拔掉那颗牙，其二为root canal。我看版上以往文
章提到千万不要随便拔掉自己的牙，这个会导致其他牙齿出问题。因此打算做根管，但
因为以前牙齿很好，国内从未看过牙医，家里人牙齿也很好，就没有买牙齿保险。打算
这个冬学期买了学校保险，再做根管。
先有问题如下：
一：牙医说一年内做问题都不大。但我看版上有文章说他root canal拖了3个月导致有
其他病症出现。如果真的很可能如此， 我就不打算省这比钱了，毕竟发病实在太痛苦
了。
二：没有做root canal前，如何注意口腔卫生，防止再感染。
三：root canal做后是不是一定要加crown， 我的是bicuspid tooth，牙医开的单子上
没有说要加crown。另外root canal therapy on bicuspid tooth, 630USD，这个价格
是否公道？

butting, and crown. etc.

he also suggests giving me a medicine called Arestin. however, my insurance
doesn't cover it at all. it's $45/tooth. he told me first only one tooth
need it at the visit (with hole #5), but telling me now, I need 6 of them
for 6 teeth! also there will be another 6 wk follow-up visit, costs $100
with no insurance coverage. Do I have to use the medicine? can i just do one
maybe? I had no teeth problem before at all. Thanks |

information about the severity of your problems.
My guess is that your gum & filling situation are on still on the borderline
. Generally there is no clear yes/no criteria. People consider the
potential pro/cons, risks, their insurance, financial outlook etc. to come
to the best decision they can.
P.S. replacing a large filling in a tooth by a crown will probably make the
tooth more stable in the long term.

old crown did not fit well, additional decay can happen near the bottom of
tooth which leads to root problems. Then a root canal would be needed.
You are right that you should ask the dentist for an explanation (and also
why he thinks root canal may work here, as opposed to extraction).
p.s. even when indicated, root canal IS NOT ALWAYS SUCCESSFUL. It's a last-ditch attempt to save the natural tooth. |

You might want to check what's the cost in the specific Chinese city. If
you decide to postpone treatment, ask US dentist whether any temporary fix
is recommended (pulpotomy, filling etc.) for comfort and tooth preservation. |

It can be a mixture of reasons. Was the wisdom tooth impacted? Was the
next molar relatively healthy (no infection or large cavity)? Any
periodontal disease in that area?
Short of an implant (which drives an artificial root down), a denture
replacement will need to be fixed onto the prev tooth/teeth: |

然后医生就给抽神经，两年前做的

医生拍了牙根部x光，发现两个牙根都有infection
更加麻烦的是，两个根部下面的成人门牙中间又夹着一颗小牙

我们只有两个选择：要们拔掉两门牙，几年以后拔掉extra tooth;
要么一次把三颗牙全部拔掉
小孩那么小，还在学英文阶段，三四年没有门牙可怎么办呢？请问各位有什么好建议吗？
我们实在不想拔掉extra tooth，也想暂时保存两个门牙几年，真的会infection把好牙

The dentist consulting & 超声清洗 should be part of Preventive, which is
100% covered by your insurance policy. X-Ray should be 100% covered too. So
you should not pay any out of pocket fee at the moment unless there's other
work you didn't mention. Don't afraid to ask the front desk/reception for
the fees.

If there are cavities, infections or the wisdom tooth is destroying other
teeth, then yes.
Simple extraction ~ 100/ea, soft tissue impaction 250-400, bony impaction
275-500. Local anesthesia is free or very cheap, but extra sedation could
cost a bit.
Depends on: front or back tooth, crown type and material
Read the manual(s) carefully to figure out the difference. PPO may not be
better, as the total benefit is capped at 1500-3000/yr. Another option is

harmful (because they don't know how to control how hard they're biting)
