这两天一直很难过，Tong要走了。昨天晚上我和她一起在家为今天的送别party做蛋糕
，俩人站在厨房一边打蛋一边哭。本来真不想搞得这么矫情的，可眼泪就是停不住。到
美国这些日子以来，远离了父母，远离了曾经最贴心的闺蜜们。虽然遇到了很多nice的
人，也结识了很多善良的朋友，可和Tong，是最特别最投缘的。真的很遗憾，在她即将
离开美国的最后几个月里才与她相识；但又觉得自己很幸运，她在美国的短短时间里，
能与她成为这样的朋友。我们俩就像幸运的恋人一样，一件钟情，相见恨晚。昨晚我们
一边哭一边笑说，当彼此相识了以后，就都恨不得把对方的前世今生都了解，也恨不得
把自己的前世今生的每一个细节都向对方倾诉。最后这几天晚上，我们窝在她家，一起

牙医保险。
前段时间在本版发帖，请大家推荐牙医，没人理我。正好那时Rockvillesmile发广
告到我家，看见上面有个华人医生叫peter tong，就打电话预约，说是去估价。
第一次去的时候，给我拍了X-ray才见到tong医生，他说我的蛀牙太深，有50%的可
能要抽牙髓，建议我买保险。没有保险的话，抽牙髓的话要1000刀，光补牙要300。后
来不知道他跟前台的怎么说的，反正没有收我的检查费用。
我怕麻烦也没有货比三家，第二次打电话预约，说我来不及买保险，能不能不抽牙
髓，他还是说他只能在补牙的过程中才能确定要不要抽，我想想就豁出去了吧，1000刀
就1000刀。
补牙花了20-30分钟吧，觉得他操作满熟练的，比较让我放心。最后连那个牙医助
理都说我很lucky,没有抽牙髓。最后还给了我一点折扣，290刀。
补牙一个多月了，我觉得他值得推荐的地方是：诊所规范，仪器也比较新，操作
熟练，不像那些半路出家的华人医生。他本人是美国长大的台湾人，说他祖籍是江苏 |

ps，反复改，找同事推敲，彻彻底底把故事讲清楚就足够了，不要把自己的cv放在里面
重复一遍，就丧失了cs的作用
你将来在选program？ research track？ 我收到好几个research track的 offer，大
部分的research track，让你的第三年，第四年做elective。 即使进了某一个track，
也不是板上钉钉的事情，可以换。
lili，我申请了两个专业，写了两个ps，其实前后都差不多，中间有一段我对病理理解
什么样，不要写的很复杂，很奇怪，写的简单一点，把故事讲清楚，人家能明白，ps
别人花五到十分钟就已经很不错了，我就是从头到尾，对临床的理解。 你要是想申请
不同的专业，要写不同的ps，有人甚至针对不同的医院。中间找地方冲突一下。 ps里

我完全不是这个领域的，今天早上才知道Kobilka这个名字，但这并不妨碍我一颗八卦
的心，略一古狗后，发现他的太太很有意思。
貌似Kobilka在明大念本科的时候认识的Tong Sun Thian, 两人都是Bio/Chem专业。本
科毕业后Kobilka去Yale上医学院，Tong则在Iowa State拿了个微生物的Master(76-78
年)之后，搬到了Yale陪Kobilka，其间，为了陶冶性情，竟然在Yale拿了个东亚历史的
学位(80-81年) [2]。
81年Kobilka医学院毕业后 [3]，两人一起搬回中部。Kobilka在WashU做了四年内科住
院医[1]，然后在85年又搬到当时还不出名的Lefkowitz实验室苦干四年博后，做出了诺
奖级工作 [4]，于是在89年终于找到了Stanford的faculty职位 [1]。这八年期间，

好多年前, 我刚到美国的时候, 在 Houston 的 RICE U. 的羽毛球俱乐部
打球. 当时打球的里面有一半是 community member, 还有一个教练,
名字我都不太记得了, 好象是 Roxone Tong. 以前是职业的, 据说还拿过
80 年代的香港公开赛女单冠军. 还有一个男的, 据说是前广东省队的.
这两个算是在RICE里打球的前职业选手了.
那个男的, 我看也至少 有35,6 了, 体力真TM好. 经常把我们这帮学生
打得累趴下. 然后过来训我们: 现在你们这些年轻怎么这么委? 当年老子
年青的时候, 可以连续打一天. 这男的脾气很好, 水平高, 没架子.
你打得再土, 他也不介意和你搭挡. 就是打起球来以后, 怎么说呢,
按当时俱乐部里一个印度人的说法, 就是”he is very mean”.
他打球从不让低手, 看准你的弱点, 就专打你弱点, 不带停的. 你反手不兆,
他就专挑你反手, 决不会这样得几分以后就停下来. 场上不苟言笑,

我完全不是这个领域的，今天早上才知道Kobilka这个名字，但这并不妨碍我一颗八卦
的心，略一古狗后，发现他的太太很有意思。
貌似Kobilka在明大念本科的时候认识的Tong Sun Thian, 两人都是Bio/Chem专业。本
科毕业后Kobilka去Yale上医学院，Tong则在Iowa State拿了个微生物的Master(76-78
年)之后，搬到了Yale陪Kobilka，其间，为了陶冶性情，竟然在Yale拿了个东亚历史的
学位(80-81年) [2]。
81年Kobilka医学院毕业后 [3]，两人一起搬回中部。Kobilka在WashU做了四年内科住
院医 [1]，然后在85年又搬到当时还不出名的Lefkowitz实验室苦干四年博后，做出了
