beida101又说 "诸位如果是伯乐，知道哪个穷孩子成绩好，可要鼓励他（她）申请精英

芝加哥这四所学校每年“择优“选择一千二三百人，其中40%来至于low income family
.说这五百人都能上精英大学，这baida101不就是跟当初辩论AA一样睁着眼睛说瞎话么
。最鄙视这种无脑无立场冒牌liberals.
在另外一文，他鼓吹TJHSST去elite schools一大堆，我问他TJHSST有60%asian,到底AA

昨天我一个美国学生告诉我，他的一个同学，数学极好，在MathCount名列前茅，但其

sleep at 1am is very normal, if have a sports and home work at same time.
The difference is, you still have option of music, arts and sports. |

都是学生会或俱乐部主席。
我还有一点不理解。进前5的那个SAT考了很多次，最好一次也不到1900（她数学拖了后
腿)，而进100后的那个SAT只考了一次，就有2100。两个的爸爸都是工程师，进前5的那
个是小公司的电脑工程师，进100后的那个是最大的军火公司的机械工程师，按理说后
一个家里更有钱。两个都不是华裔或者东亚裔，所以大学入学不存在歧视。但怎么考分
低很多并且家庭收入也可能低很多的反而去了最好的学校？ |

硕士，也是一年来没有找到高中教职，也去读UVA那个一年制的教师证书了。
我妈妈问我怎么不去读那个？我说我太老了，而且教学生也没有耐心。 |

都说中国的学校魔鬼。都说美国的孩子游手好闲。其实美国孩子的幸福生活只到初中毕
业为止。如果有重点高中要考的地区，只到小学毕业为止。美国考学，不以一考定终生
，要全面考察。查GPA，查社会活动，查体育，查获奖，还要教师推荐信。基本从一入
学就要开始变着法儿攒RP。个个都削尖了脑袋要在某个方向出人头地。那个辛苦，真是
一言难尽。
女儿10年级，相当于中国的高一，上数学分析，也就是升级版的高数，她班上一个同学
更凶，才9年级。昨天帮她选课，叹了一下，她说她的课业不算啥。她有个同学同时上
了两门文科的AP,另外还要参加课外活动和运动队为将来申请大学攒RP，一天只有4个钟
头好睡觉。整个悬梁刺股。相比之下。中国孩子还是比较幸福。
重点中学更了不得。现在正是各学校注册下学年的课程的季节。看了一下小二的选课表
，厚厚地150页。不告诉你，还真看不出来是高中选课表。数学那块，高数，线代不用

所以我看某名ID最好还是去另一个diversity比较好的(i.e. 亚裔比较少)

average SAT score was 2218.

around 2200, has a strong Asian student body (about 60%). Indian students
outnumber the Chinese students by a wide margin.
1) They all talk in English on campus.
2) Indian students might have even better grades and achievement than the

program，甚至师生比例什么的都没有那么重要。
对老中学生比较相关的就是AP/IB课程的数量，medium SAT和 SAT II成绩，这些都能影
响到能上HYMPSC的以及其他top 20的比例。

(almost half) very, very smart kids.
This new policy, which has nothing to do with race, is very, very good!!
I believe, in a few years, when those kids graduate, those two schools can
compete TJHSST!!

So, Northside, Payton and Young at least have

学生参加的Science Olympiad是美国规模最大的之一。很多小学四，五年级的学生有参
加Science Field Day.所以虽然北大写的是Virginia的情况，我们也可以借鉴一些。

In TJHSST (No. 4 in the nation, average SAT is above 2200), girls wear mini
skirts and tank tops as well. Even though there is a dress code, but due to
the lack of enforcement, no one pays attention to the code. Plus, since most
of the students in TJ are nerds, they do not care what kind of clothes
others wear or what kind of exposed skin others have.
