上周末去田纳西出差，特意抽了一个星期天的下午，去了Nashville Table Tennis
Club打球。星期天的活动场所是在Brentwood的Williamson County Recreation Center
( Indoor Sports Complex )。从Nashville市中心出发，开车20分钟就到了，很好找。
进了门，两位工作人员很热情，大概能看出来我不是本地人。付了3元访问费以后，直
奔很里面的乒乓球区。
好家伙，大概有15张桌子，是跟室内网球场共用一个大场地。打球的人有一半是老中，
一半是老美。老美年级都比较大。老头比较多。跟我差不多，呵呵。桌子都满了。
问了一下坐在长凳上等桌子的一个老中年轻人，知道可以自己选桌子，但是要在中心地
带等。
正等着，一个胸前挂着貌似工作证的老中过来了。他自我介绍说他名叫ALEX（我想这个
名字好记），是这个俱乐部的管事的。他问我说是从哪儿来，我说加州；然后他问加州
哪里，我说北加。他说他的BROTHER也在北加，教乒乓球。

今晚我打了第一场正式比赛，就是那个 tennis-league, 3.5 division.
比赛输了：６：４， ４：６， ６：７（４），耗时２。５小时。
打球快有一年了，很期待检验自己的水平。平常朋友就告诉我，我
的比赛比我练习时要保守的多。我赛前就告诫自己，这场比赛以提高
经验，认识自己，寻求进步为主。Game plan is simple:
(1) get the serve in and get the ball back;
(2) crosscourt ground stroke and lob in trouble;
(3) down-the-line approach.
比赛于７点半开始，来得是个矮胖的香港人。一番热身后，我觉得
有的一打，他的正反手似乎比我弱，移动不是很好。可是比赛一开始，
我就觉得不妙，他的一发很强，在第一个set中我就没回过去几个球，
让他得了不少cheap points. 我是在力保每一个发球局，好在我还能

小时候打过一季的网球，大概13年没有再碰过网球，小学打乒乓球校队，初中以后就只
有断断续续的打壁球，上个星期开始决定学网球，目前为止上了两次private课 (1hr
each)，都是我跟教练打
第一次上课，前面一大半就是让我把球往地上丢，然后球弹上来，用拍子从下往上打(
kind of like how you practice table tennis except this time, the ball
actually bounces on the ground once first before I hit it up towards the sky
) ，然后球再往地上弹，然后我再打，就这么从baseline向前一直打到前面那条线，然
后挥拍把球打过网。正手、反手都练。大概打了100球total吧。
