备些什么问题。本人烂校fresh phd，publication不少，所以research还说得过去。做
过TA,但没有正式教过课。学校偏teaching，research的要求不高，teaching school的
话phone interview一般都会问什么问题啊，到时候会有三到四个faculty作phone
interview。 |

发帖数: 336 | 3 生物和基础医学专业，州立大学Ph.D (Ohio State 或 Univ. of Maryland 这种），六
年postdoc。 Research 做的很一般，一作总共5篇，IF从3到9不等。挂名合作的挺多，
总共十三四篇。特别喜欢教书，就想当个teaching faculty。混了这么多年总算办了绿
卡。期间为攒教学经验也帮其他教授上过课（在一门博士生课中每年教几个lecture）
。国内当过老师，这边也当过TA。
近来开始发简历，只要是teaching就发，lecturer，AP等无所谓，总共也有几十个了，
响都没一个，十分郁闷。是我简历写的太差？还是外国人当这种的很难啊？这条路能走
通吗？

发帖数: 660 | 4 我个人的感觉是纯teaching 的学校很多都是私立的，私立因为收费高，所以更重视学
生，一般招外国人的可能性比较小。
反而是公立学校相对更容易申请一些。你的research 其实还不错，如果找那种一般的
州立大学teaching 加一点research的可能更合适吧。

Research seminar到是做过很多，而且可以做的很生动，必竟熟悉，有confidence.
请问，teaching seminar一定要从课本里准备一小节出来讲还是把research seminar里

对方要求presentation要有10-15minutes的slides to talk about teaching perspectives, to demonstrate your beliefs and values with respect to your approach to facilitating the learning and development of undergraduate and graduate students.

发帖数: 16 | 12 我从6月份开始投简历，找faculty的工作，只要相关的都投了，主要目标是找teaching school， 到目前为止，投了20份简历，都很认真的根据学校的要求对简历进行修改，可是除了一个拒信外，其他的都没回音。
不知道是自己的水平不行还是什么原因。我的学校排名100左右，投的学校也往下走的。 是不是不是名校的难找faculty的工作啊
在我学校教了3门课，都是instructor， 有evaluation的，teaching experience应该还可以吧

个分数过去就行了，主要评语里面有好有坏，坏的主要就是HARD TO UNDERSTAND
BECAUSE OF HEAVY ACCENT,其他也没有什么，另外就是说这课包含内容太多，我讲的太
快，不过这课程也不是我设计的，是系里已经设计好的，所以这样导致我其中一项：
EFFECTIVELY PRESENT CONTENT比较低，所以我想只给个总分过去还比较好看些。请问

school基本不可能做，所以research plan想些偏numerical modelling，可是这样一来
会和从前做的东西差比较远。如果写偏实验，别人会对能不能申请到funding support

It is tricky to get good teaching evaluation especially if you are not
confident. Students are smart and they can tell.
The key here is to make your students like you instead of complaining a lot
about you. But how to do it is very difficult.
In my personal opinion, try to make lecture easier, also introduce some
group discussion. For example, you can give a lecture for about 15-20
minutes, then ask them to have a group discussion or answer some questions

statement和teaching statement,因为没有经验，所以有几个问题向各位前辈咨询一下：
1.research statement是应该把重点放在过去的研究的总结上，还是未来的研究方向上？
2.因为我没有正式教学经验，只做过TA和指导过一些intern,teaching statement里需
不需要详细描述这些经历，还是把重点放在未来课程的计划上？
3.如果招聘广告中没有提到具体希望招的人未来教哪些课程，只是很宽泛的说本科生和
研究生课程，我该怎么写未来教课的计划，是按照他们系里已有的课程中选择几门自己
擅长的写计划，还是按照我的背景，开几门自己比较有经验的新课来写？
问题比较多，希望有经验的大侠不吝赐教，本人无以为报，奉上四个包子，第一个回答

Even at a research university, teaching (instead of research) is your
primary commitment to the department.

文质量和数量上下功夫。一个人单干（没有PhD下手帮忙）其实真的很难。
楼主如果铁心做研究的话，宁可去薄厚的。
当然 teaching school 的缺点是钱少，头一两年教学压力大。但之后就可以enjoy
life了。虽然钱不如research school 多，养个家也肯定够用了。何况多处来的时间，
开个公司，陪陪家人也是不错的选择。不是一心研究的话，也是人生的一条正路。 |

被列为coPI。teaching school再差，你是一个独立的有资格申请funding。这个估计是
好的博后位置换不来的。还有如果你真正喜欢做研究，去teaching school也就是一个
跳板。a job is a job; you get to start somewhere. |

articles per year. Most good liberal arts colleges (Swarthmore, Williams, Colby, Wellesley, etc) have
comparatively high requirements
for
research, and research weights 30-40% when come to tenure evaluation. We
also have generous start-up funding, which is bigger than many 3rd tire or even some 2rd tier state
universities. A lot of professors in our colleges have external grant to
