authoritarian government in Taiwan prohibited anything remotely related to
local affairs. I wanted to put up a poster "I love Taiwan; "No can do," I
was told. O, I hate the regime!
Apparently things have changed since. Historical documents are compiled. (In
the past years, I knew Japan kept government documents collected in the
colonial rule of Taiwan. It seems, however, more have been preserved.)

3、Beijing, PRC V Taiwan, ROC;两个中国，意思上其实更接近于一国两府
4、Beijing，PRC/China V Taiwan；一边一国；台湾为政治未定区
5、Beijing,PRC/China V Taipei, Taiwan；字面上已经是台湾为独立国家
现在大陆让让让，已经让到了最底线，就是绿人所期待的把台湾作为一个国家的定位，
从政治上看是不可接受的。
个人可以接受的是从2到4的写法。
为了避免跟大陆政府反对两个中国和一边一国的政策冲突，我觉得最好就写Beijing V
Taiwan/Taipei，都不写国别，反正几乎所有的人都知Beijing跟Taiwan在哪里。
都写China的话与台湾多数人的主张可能不符；但个人支持饶毅把这个问题提出来。大
陆的知识分子在这方面上有点过于软弱了。

Taiwan is one of the most important markets for Lexus (and for many luxury cars for that matter), even though the population is not large compared with many parts of the world. Taiwan was in fact one of the first markets in the world to launch Lexus' LS450 a few years ago. Of course LS460 is also available in Taiwan now.

are coming to Taiwan for weddings.
An offcial with Taiwan Tourism Bureau said, "Taiwan is not a big region, but
its variety is huge."
My comment: Taiwan does not have ancient buildings as China and Japan. Nor
does it have magnificent scenery like US. Still Taiwan is all right. Taroko
Gorge in eastern Taiwan is wonderful, in my view. |

〔记者谢君临／台北报导〕时代力量智库昨发布最新民调，高达七成四三的民众，支持
将护照上的英文名字（REPUBLIC OFCHINA）改为TAIWAN，避免国人被误认是中国人。时
力党主席徐永明说，建议护照封面重新设计，强化区别效果，将在今年暑假前举办公开
设计活动，提供政府参考。

根据民调，高达七十四.三%的民众，支持将护照上的英文名字改为TAIWAN；其中，五十
一.二%非常支持，二十三.一%还算支持，十.八%不太支持，六.四%非常不支持，八.五%
无明确意见。
国民党支持者也过半数支持更改
交叉分析显示，政党倾向为民进党、时力的民众，支持率均约九成；政党倾向为台湾民
众党、国民党的民众，支持率则分别为七成五、五成二。因此，即使是国民党支持者，
也超过一半支持将护照上的英文名字改为TAIWAN。
对于正名，民进党立委何志伟表示支持，建议循序渐进，他也认为实际上的认同度应会
更高，台湾的护照非常好用，但仅在进入海关有用，更重要的应该是台湾实质参与国际
组织；但何坦言，变更护照至少在近半年内，不会是主要运作的议题。

Taiwan – along with Vietnam and Nepal – is one of the few that have taken
