really tightens her grip on those things/ppl in the writing and doesn't leave
any space. and that makes me cringe. the problme is good writers always
evoke comparisons. they shadow some writers, and they also make us look for
other bright writers. there are other authors, similarly sharp, clever &
understanding but they handle chars and stories in a better-humoured way. and
oooh i'd go swoon over these authors.

make *or* swoon. or are you thinking about jane austen? there're so many
austen-like fics out there. book stores are filled with books tailor-made
for working, pre-marriage women looking for dreams between the pages.
