1912年中华民国开端时，我国人口已达4.43亿，但到1949年人口只有5.4亿，38
年间人口增长缓慢。
此38年间中华民国内战不断，日本入侵，因战争死亡的人口据统计约6千万人，
平均每年死亡160万人左右。

An off-duty sheriff’s captain was suffering from critical injuries Saturday
after her car drifted into opposing traffic and crashed head-on into
another vehicle in Castaic.
Carrie Stuart, 47, crashed her car on San Francisquito Canyon Road, north of
Stator Lane, around 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway
