h*******v 发帖数: 27 | 2 I read that paper sometime ago. It's a little odd that they examined
striatum instead of cortex. They tried to make a story that cortico-striatal
synapses were sick and other regions were spared (they examined synaptic
plasticity in hippocampus and found it is alright, if I remember correctly).
If so, they should at least rescue the striatum region with virus-delivered
shank3. Without the rescue experiment, no causality is established and the
autistic phenotype could simply be the combined secon...

Introduction
Access to highly palatable and calorically rich foods is a major
contributing factor to the increasing rates of obesity worldwide (Caballero,
2007). Eating is essential for survival and is underpinned by the
fundamental physiological need to consume energy. However, our basic
requirements for nutrients and energy to maintain physiological homeostasis
are often exceeded by an abundant source of readily available and conv...

“Our results raise the question of whether a gene variant favored by
evolution, that would normally confer advantage, may translate into a
disadvantage if the prefrontal cortex is impaired, as in schizophrenia,”
added Daniel Weinberger, M.D. “Normally, enhanced cortex connectivity with
the striatum would provide increased flexibility, working memory capacity
and executive control. But if other genes and environmental events conspire
to render the cortex incapable of handling such informa...

synaptic transmission/plasticity and alcohol abuse at the Texas A&M Health
Science Center.
Research in the lab uses state-of-the-art technologies, including patch-
clamp recording from genetically identified neurons using transgenic animals
, optogenetics and pharmacogenetics, analysis of structural plasticity using
3-D reconstruction of single neurons in combination with behavioral
procedures. For more details, please ...

25) In a patient with a movement disorder , positron emission tomography (
PET), using a radioactive ligand for the dopamine 1 (D-1) receptor, shows a
marked reduction in the structure indicated by the arrow in the MRI of the
normal head. Which of the following is the source of the innervation of this
structure by dopamine-containing axons?
A) Globus pallidus
B) Motor cortex
C) Motor thalamus
D) Striatum
E) Substatia nigra
The arrow in the MRI points to the Caudate Nucleus. |

76 | 10 The effect of dopamine on animal behaviors seems very complicated. Dopamine
may via D1 receptors stimulate "Go" neurons in the striatum to facilitate
the section of "Go" action in rewarding behaviors;simultaneously via D2
receptor suppress "No-Go" neurons to inhibit the section of "No-Go" actions.
So the net effect is "Go". This might be why dopamine is so powerful,
although none of dopamine receptors are ion channels. These receptors do not
mediate fast synaptic transmission.
However,naturally ...
