？我跟系主任打电话，先是说了工资要涨，他说要和dean商量一下子；然后问
relocation咋样，他说他不知道！ 问是不是要把teaching load 写进offer letter，
系主任说不知道！ 然后说转TT的事最好写进offer letter, 系主任又是死活不肯，说
是他和dean可以打包票，可是我打听，那个dean 6月底就退休了；然后问start-up，因
为我完全没有概念，到底多少合适，所以想问问一个大致的range,系主任死活不肯说，
让我自己figure out。 我准备把所有的东西都列出来了，准备先发给他一份，然后再
和他谈。系主任在我接受offer之前，不会给我发邮件；最后问新校区lab space的问题
，系主任让我入职后去新校区问那里的人要。这系主任说话慢，做事滑头，很多问题直
接就是回答不知道。

销差旅费都不行。今年没申到funding，想用一部分start up的钱来付自己的暑假工资
（当时院里给了一些暑假工资，但是用完了），不知道这个一般要谁批准？钱是dean's
office拨的，要直接找dean吗？感觉dean不会管这么琐碎的事情啊。院里的小米好像
又没有那么大的权力，一时间都不知道要去问谁。请指教。 |

sure our Dean will be concerned about the extent of your request. He

1. 有没有一个standard equipments 的估价单？还是一定要找salesperson要quotes？
2. 我这家要求我写一个比较详细的justification。“What would be helpful would
be to have a budget justification tied to a specific experimental plan like
you would do for a grant submission”。这个很头疼。谁能把4-5年内的可能的实验

面试前学校要求我将start-up list发给他们。
比较纠结的是需要购买一台测试仪器,大约300k。
除了这台仪器，其他小设备和耗材加一起可能有100k。
学校是名不见经传的公立学校(R2),还没算学生的费用，400k还是担心要多了会把他们
吓着。。。
这台仪器还挺必需的，没有的话对我将来的研究工作非常不利。
其实这台仪器对系里其他老师也会很有帮助，完全可以大家share。
就是很难推测招聘委员会是怎么个想法。
比如，也许他们会觉得我这个方向太烧钱，转而招一个便宜点的研究领域？
目前来看，我的研究背景跟他们广告上的要求几乎100%吻合。
版上经验丰富的前辈们有何建议，还望多多赐教！ |

最近收到了一个TTAP的offer，我在和系主任商讨delay one year start 去做一个
postdoc
系主任的回复是：希望明年二月份入职 原因是希望早点开始申请funding （今年下半
年）
告诉我如果真的想要delay到明年8月份入职 可以在二月份的时候过来一样让HR知道我
onboard了 之后申请no pay onleave 他会support我 而且dean也答应批准了 这样我只
需要二月份来几天就OK
我看到该系最近2年招的AP fresh phd graduate 貌似都有delay one year for
postdoc的经历 再远的我也查不到了 这也是我为什么觉得应该坚持一下negotiation的
一个原因之一
我想请教各位老师：
1. 这个结局办法合理么？ 一般针对这种delay start的情况 offer上写的晚半年 no
pay onleave 算半年 合理么？
2. 有什么需要继续确认清楚的么？ 比如我的tenure clock 是从明年二月份开始呢 还
是 八月份开始呢？ |

to find a job in industry (no offense). I believe your clock will start on
February, but you should be able to start writing grant already. Your

是10月1日。当然这指的是BRAND NEW H1B。如果TRANSFER就另当别论。OPT的身份可以
支撑4月1号到10月1号的过渡。但是无论怎样，I-129上的STARTING DATE都应该是10月1

labor application has been confirmed received at the DOL. There’s only one
more step to perform now which is to file the formal petition.
Offer letter states my starting date is next Monday (03/21), however I
really can't start until its following Monday (03/28) due to unfinished

EAD么？之前看帖子说OPT 的peak time是1，2月份和7，8月份。不知道最近这段时间的
process都
需要多久啊？
本身这个opening 是要求四月份要开始工作的，已经拖到五月底了，估计是极限了。不
知道如果到时候
5月30之前还收不到EAD该怎么办。唉！
