As I am sure you know , Erich von Manstein was born Lewinski on 24/11/1887 ,
son of a General of Artillery, after the death of his parents he was
adopted by the wealthy landowners von Manstein , whose name he subsequently
bore .
It was rumored that his real grandfather was jewish and name Lewinsky has a
certain polish sound .
Concerning other sources , Anthony Beevor in his book "Stalingrad " at page
16 says " privately he admitted to be of jewish ancestry " .

事实是除了中文书外，没有哪本军史战史把莫斯科、斯大林格勒、列宁格勒以及其他诸
如华沙等地的攻防战称为“保卫战”，而是形成包围圈的，称为siege，没形成包围圈
的，直接称之为battle。“保卫战”一词本来或许就是中国特色，争对于己方或同情方
的以防御城市/要塞为目的攻防战役。国军有南京保卫战、衡阳保卫战，共军有四平保
卫战，等等。要不你列举一本有把大型城市攻防战称为“保卫战”的非中文战史？所以
你非要把以依托城市为防御支撑固点，吸引敌方重兵集团在坚城下并使之削弱，最后发
起决定性反攻的防御－反攻/围歼战役人为地分为保卫战和进攻战，实在是生搬硬套，
因为这本来就是一次完整的战役，只是因为自身实力的原因，前阶段以防御为主，削弱
敌进攻集团的实力，后阶段以反攻为主，消灭敌已被削弱的进攻集团。

呵呵，原来希特勒、凯特尔、约德尔这几个都不是人啊？高见，真是高见。
至于您说的曼斯坦因希望突围，曼帅在回忆录中给小胡子扣了不少屎盆子来洗刷自己的
失误，这里正好是其中之一，但却被人抓个正着，因为正是曼帅本人亲自向希特勒进言
，他可以轻易给保罗斯解围，因此第六集团军没有必要突围。所以曼帅后来名声不太好
。呵呵，可见读书要仔细，囫囵吞枣要不得啊，看看这个review：

that there was no hope for the Germans to
accomplish their strategic goal of taking Stalingrad.
I guess it depends on how you define "failure", at which
point you admit it, and for how long you would hold back
the truth from your people (albeit you eventually telling
them the truth). |

虎虎虎中途岛三大战役攻克柏林只能算战役片，
stalingrad, downfall之类，通过描写一段时间和局部反映整个战争，可以算战争背景
片。
兵临城下黑鹰坠落之类，只能算战斗片，接近于动作片
黎明静悄悄之类，属于战争抒情片

But again, USSR has beaten little Japs good in the Nomonhan battle, so

otherwise, if the little Jap invaded Siberia at the same time of Barbarosa
and Typhoon, Stalin will not be this lucky again. |

Japs alone cannot tackle the northern bear, but not if they do it together
with the blitzkrieg.

west front. Otherwise, there will not be a turn-around for the soviet red
army.
Like I said, if there were a joint attack by little japs and the waffen SS
from both the east front and the west front at the same time, that dumb
phuck stalin will not be that lucky again.
He was lucky just because little Japs were not raising hell at the eastern
front at the same time. |
