"英文大师"钱钟书东抄西抄, 扮演文抄公的角色, 都可以
同情地理解。因为钱钟书的英文没有创造性, 你不让他抄,
叫他怎么办?
但滑稽的是, 钱钟书抄错了, 闹了一个大笑话。
钱钟书1937年的文章中的"scatter-brained flappers"抄自
著名美国作家爱伦·格拉斯哥(Ellen Glasgow)1935年的小说
"Vein of Iron"里面的"scatterbrained flapper", 但问题就出
在"flapper"这个词上面。
在英文中, "scatterbrained flapper"中的"flapper"这个词是指
第一次世界大战到1929年这段时期中的不拘一格的女子。

都停摆了，跟同学沿着长安大街走回家的，估摸着25公里左右吧。
这个慈善义走的受益者是Melrose Home - Children's Aid Society的孩子们。一般而
言，在新加坡生活的孩子们是幸福的，大部分孩子们的主要压力就是学业，吃喝不缺，
突出的一点就是旅行经历丰富。然而，最近因缘巧合，我有机会了解到生活在这里不幸
的孩子们，他们来自低收入和离异家庭，也有孤儿，有不少不得不在收养所生活成长。
我是跟另外3个同事组队参加这个长途义走的，比10公里长，比100公里短，选择走西线
路线（参见下面的路线图）。
比较起长途奔跑和徒步行走的不同，他们使用了不同的肌肉群，走下来的感觉虽然没有
跑全马那么悲惨，但肌肉的疲劳感是有异曲同工处的。平时根本没有训练长途行走，而
上一次行走记忆根本没有丝毫的警示感，呼吸和体力分配没有任何的策略可言，全凭拼
体力了。加上第3个报道点后剩下的5公里路程不得不在夜幕降临的雨天完成，12个小时
的天气从多云到晴朗到下雨，我们也从擦防晒霜、戴墨镜遮阳到雨衣、雨伞、拖鞋的一

断。这个过程完全是贝志城鼎力推动而完成的。而贝志城之所以先后通过两次分别通过
朱令的父亲和母亲寻求铊中毒检测，根据的是国外专家回复的电子邮件诊断为铊中毒。
贝：十号发了那是个周一，周三我就给朱令他爸爸打电话说，我看到提问里还有说是铊
中毒。
贝志城：很多医生很激烈地发表意见，说一定要作这个化验，因为她的症状太像铊中
毒了。
朱令父亲：贝志城给我打了个电话，说有人觉得是不是就是铊中毒。
朱令母亲：他（贝志城）说，阿姨你是怎么了，这么多人都说是铊中毒，你为什么就
不去化验。
尼罗河与多位直接参与朱令远程诊断的美国医师通过电邮电话和传真讨论过当时诊断铊

1. Upper motor neurons alone - PLS
2. Lower motor neurons alone - Progressive muscular atrophy (PMA) and spinal
muscular atrophies (SMAs)
3. Upper and lower motor neurons - ALS
这个孩子才25岁， 好像是无力不是僵直（spasticity），所以我不肯定他得到是ALS甚
至PLS， SMA倒是有可能（adult onset）。 如果有详细的体检和肌电图检查， 诊断应
该很容易。 纠缠这个诊断很重要， 因为有些SMA是良性的， PLS也比ALS好的多，尽管
有些PLS会恶化成ALS。
很多病早期只能说MND， 时间长了会改变，诊断就更明确。
不幸的是治疗大多数只是对症， 药物治疗ALS只能延长3个月的生命。 不过我觉得没有
道理病人不能吃味精， 难道因为MSG是neurotoxic？ 临床上一些药物in vitro是

发帖数: 9638 | 21 hawking是很幸运， 我相信他得的是MND，不见得就是ALS， 原因我在上面已经说过了
。 不是他的医生， 所以不知道具体的信息。 我有一个病人， 4年前发病， 诊断为
spastic paraplegia， 到mayo clinic， 他们也是这个观点。 2年后她出现吞咽和说
话的问题， 所以诊断就成了PLS， 但4年来我没法诊断她ALS， 因为没有lower motor
neuron的表现。
ALS一旦诊断，一般只有2-3年时间。 是有一些幸运者， 但hawking21岁得病，现在70
多了吧？ 应该属于ALS的异类了。
至于他为什么那么聪明， 我想是因为运动机能不行所以其他大脑机能发达吧，不是反
过来的。 |

他想要买一个“绝缘针”，主要用于治疗痉挛型脑瘫（spastic cerebral palsy）患儿。
这类病人有些是局部的肌肉痉挛导致了他的关节变形、肌腱挛缩，限制了病人的活动及
家人的护理，可以肉毒素注射，有一种注射方法是需要肌电定位，而注射时用到的这个
针叫“绝缘针”。这个“绝缘针”是三通的，一边接肌电定位的电极，一边接注射器的
药物，另外一边是针头了，大概就是图中的样子，图中是日本产的。
另外，我自己想问的，这个针英文名叫啥？问朋友说不知道。
