This is true Liberty when free born men
Having to advise the public may speak free,
Which he who can, and will, deserv's high praise,
Who neither can nor will, may hold his peace;
What can be juster in a State then this?

Of Religious Worship, and the Sabbath Day
I. The light of nature showeth that there is a God, who hath lordship and so
vereignty over all, is good, and doth good unto all, and is therefore to be
feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all the he
art, and with all the soul, and with all the might.[404] But the acceptable
way of worshiping the true God is instituted by himself, and so limited by h

term for this discussion, than this commonly used term, necessity, which
cannot rightly be used, either with reference to the human will, or the
divine. It is of a signification too harsh and ill-suited for this subject,
forcing upon the mind an idea of compulsion, and that which is altogether
contrary to will; whereas, the subject which we are discussing, does not
require such an idea: for Will, whether divine or human, do...

That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when
thou art judged.

4. But let God be true, etc. Whatever may be the opinion of others, I regard
this as an argument taken from the necessary consequence of what is opposed
to it, by which Paul invalidates the preceding objection. For since these
two things stand together, yea, necessarily accord, that God is true and
that man is false, it follow...

because they, though no less destitute of true righteousness than the
