了找工作，似乎没有多少我感兴趣的东西。现在又LAPSE了，要RENEW要交两年钱，加起
来400多了，这都得自掏腰包。要是加入4个SOCIETY，每年会费就是700多了，
可是在和一个faculty talk时，他们问我打算在society里担任什么leader role，好像
他们还挺看重这些的。
请问各位，这些society在career发展中能有多大的意义？另外就是可以用grant或者
startup来pay这些dues吗？

75刀，我没加入，因为除了第一次的reception，pin, certificate外，没有任何活动。
9月份有个Golden Key International Honour Society，我也没有加入。
今天又收到Sigma Theta Tau International的invite，我记得这个是专门给nursing的，
以前也听老师说过，而且都建议加入。这个的会费挺贵的。这次有些犹豫了。
不明白这些honor society到底有什么实用价值？有利于找工作(因为可以写在resume上)
？network?
我参加了National Student Nurse Association (NSNA)，比较实际的就是参加了一次州
内的年会，因为NSNA的member自动就是州内association的member。不知道那些honor
society有什么好处？ |

最近正在申请一个我们一个society的associate member，还不是full member。
Associate member根据society的bylaw，一年只有15个名额，今年开始改成了25个。必
须是独立PI，必须有NIH R01。给你7年时间过渡，然后或者申请到full member，或者
自动phase out。根据今年的统计,新批准加入的full member竟然H index达到31！平均
年龄46岁！（前年的新加入full member的平均年龄是51岁！NND）
参加他们的年会，必须是member或者被一个member邀请。一个member每年只有一个邀请
的名额。感觉像secular的教会组织似的，不过会议水平确实高。 |

证的时候，由于嫌麻烦，我一律都写no（后悔啊），不过在递140的时候，
professional society 是证据之一，这次在填485的时候有些犹豫，怕如果写了

观网军事满嘴跑火车已成常态。然而观点跑火车倒也罢了，基本事实都瞎扯淡就太过分
了。
ps观网除了林毅夫张文木李零王孟源等几位先生的文章，还有些年轻学者的文章也有些
不错的，其他不看也罢。军事那帮五毛除了奉旨扯淡之余，基本属于偶尔能抄对的层次
，比满嘴跑火车的长鱼侯略强，跟围脖五毛科洛抄夫半斤八两吧。
中国模式？摸着石头过河，还在摸...现在捅出来一个几个自信，也是在摸......这个
是上层建筑的。 下层建筑是还需要大部分能三班倒，白加黑，在长期负福利下贡献剩
余价值给原始积累的个人，法人和ZF，又毫无怨言的劳动力。给上层建筑的摸石头，试
错提供时间和空间。
春节回乡跟同学吃饭聊到两个读书的事儿，让俺明白了现在教育改革到了啥进度。第一
是跟从事高中教育的同学聊天，他说现在Top2的招生基本被省城著名高中包圆了，入围
后可以降二三十分录取，所以地级市里面哪怕是学霸也很难考上了，因为省城名校的学

don't have to pay out of your pocket, if you have DAF money.
another benefit is that you can apply for society grants (mostly for career developmental grant or fellowship for your mentees)if you are a member.
this is probably the only reason why I want to join a professional society. |
