Snowfield Peak via Neve Glacier 7/30 - 8/1/2010
1. Introduction
Snowfield Peak: 8347 feet, No. 86th among Washington's top 100 summits (
source: http://www.summitroutes.com/peaks.html)
As a lazy blogger as I am, I would not write a trip report for any of the
climbs I have on so far, except Snowfield/Neve. A simple reason - route
finding and route condition are much harder, more fun, more important. Even
for myself, this could be a good record if I would do this summit again (

c*******r 发帖数: 13580 | 2 It's just a snowfield. Many basic glacier climbs are just snowfields.
I wouldn't say it's the easiest basic glacier. Emmons is technically much
easier, more strenuous for sure.
It's about 35 degrees towards the top, for about 300 vertical feet. It's a
no fall zone, the run out is bad. It's moderately hard for novices. I never
had to front point. I feel quite comfortable free soloing it. |

c*******r 发帖数: 13580 | 3 it definitely is rainier, not Yulong.
it's taken from due south, near paradise area, but maybe a little further
back, could be reflection lakes or in the tatoosh range.
I can clearly make out the distinctive features:
Gibraltar Ledges (right skyline), Anvil Rock on Muir Snowfield, and Turtle
Snowfield left of Nisqually Glacier (in the middle of the picture), point
Success.
Image search any of the features I mentioned above and you'll see. It's too
lame to pass a picture of Rainier off as Yulong. |
