language in Hong Kong. Instruction in Chinese never got abolished by the
British. People could choose to go to Chinese or English schools.
It's important to offer people with options, instead of coercing them into
only one mode.
I never fall for those national sovereignty slogans. National sovereignty is
important, but it becomes crap if the ideology is used to damage basic
human rights and freedom. |

特地從旅館坐了40多分鐘的計程車，到「上下九」步行街。這一趟到廣州坐了4
、5趟計程車，發現廣州司機都還挺和藹的，問他們哪好玩、哪好吃，都很自然地向你
介紹；他們不是北京司機那種滔滔不絕的「侃」，或許是他們的口音沒那麼標準的緣故
，感覺上很親切。
人潮擠滿整個「上下九」步行街，人多到有點不可思議。詢問當地小販，天天都
這麼多人？生意都這麼好嗎？小販道：只要周末假日都這麼多人。「上下九」是廣州的
老城區，有幾家上百年的老字號。
到此，就是專門為吃一頓道地的廣東菜而來。「喝茶？還是吃飯？」餐廳門口的
接待員這麼問。這個時候，如果你想吃飲茶點心，一定要回答「喝茶」，雖然明明喝茶
