First this shows one way to achieve pure black background. Many people do
not know you can reflect away all lights using a glass or even mirror, and
combine it with a strobe you can achieve black.
Second, this shows hard lights can provide more feeling of texture. For
other effects, have you tried (1) mount the flash toward your lens to allow
the light through the glass? Sort of getting a silhouette of the creature. (

en, i think it's probably better to do shading for the whole
background. otherwise it may seem to be a little incomplete.
you can try white pencil or white chalk to correct the hair
part (and maybe try highlighting the silhouette of the figure
using white as well) after shading. |
