hnology is not so important in my personal opinion. It's the market that dic
tates. Besides, the whole purpose of 60 GHz is to replace UWB, doing everyth
ing that UWB can do and even faster. With SiBEAM's chip more and more mature
, I really do not believe much chance left for UWB.

UWB...

chips already demoed successfully with the LOS blocked. They have some
careful designs I believe. Still, 60 GHz would be mainly for inside a room.
Recent news is that Tzero, WiQuest and Focus Enhancments closed down, "with
Artimi merging with Staccato. Texas Instruments early on quit chip
development and dispersed its design team and, while Intel dropped its own
chip development in favor of what emerges from startups such |

(室外的就几十年了吧,我不清楚)
做这个比较领先的是berkeley BWRC 和
atheros 出来的一帮人成立的sibeam
个人认为应该会有比较大的用处,
但也有一个比较的缺点,就是换一个房间(不是屋子)
coverage就会有问题,这点上会有一个瓶颈。
物理层没有太本质的变化,RF会比较难。
MAC有些问题会有些意思。。
