One thing I would point out is that when Sherman started Atlanta Campaign,
south only has Army of Tennessee with Johnston (later Hood) to block him.
Sherman has the better army in every aspect, more men, better equipment,
better moral (after Chattanooga), better supply. The only thing South is
better is shorter supply.
At Atlanta, the main reason for south to evacuate the city is probably

洛杉矶地区没有最好的私立高中，只有最合适的私立高中。四所最严格私立高中是
Flintridge Prep, Pasadena Poly, Webb 和 Harvard-Westlake. 有些人可能会说最严
格的就是最好的，但对于大部分学生来说这种说法不对。对于大部分学生来说这种严格
的学校压力过大，每晚五小时的家庭作业 (脑子好使的), 加上周末，从九年级开始就
用大学程度课本。再加上2到3小时的体育训练或者演奏练习，加上社团，公共服务，和
课外活动。在申请大学的时候，大学不会因为你上一所非常难的私立学校，而对你网开
一面，反而在这里更难拿到好成绩。
最好从你所居住的周围开始咨询，因为你不会想要每天开很远的路程。就算是比较不那
么难的学校每晚也有3到4小时的家庭作业。有些学校有非常强的运动计划或者艺术计划
，所以选什么学校完全看你需要什么。不要太看中升学率，因为那主要取决与学生而不
是学校。
很多洛杉矶的天主教学校也收一部分非天主教的学生。天主教学校的费用通常只有私立

这里的人都面试过吧，都有过糟糕的面试经历吧？ 年龄大点的人也面试过别人吧？
素不相识的面试官有你的简历，跟你谈话是第一印象。你可能没准备好，screw up了。
你的面试官对你评价不好，你不能说他就是种族歧视。
美国娱乐圈和体育圈，算是对种族而言最公平的地方了。历史上广受尊重的黑人运动员
多了，比如magic johnson, michael jordan, 甚至绯闻前的老虎伍兹，都是形象非常
健康向上的。这至少说明，黑人在体育娱乐的形象上是不落后的。
你可以说在极短的时间内评价一个人不公平，但是至少，至少，这是对所有肤色的人都
有的现象，不单单是针对黑人。至少跟种族歧视搭不上边。

There were times earlier in the game where Sherman gave Crabtree pats on the
helmet or butt after plays without saying anything, and Sherman appeared
completely respectful and friendly in those instances (For example, after
the play where Sherman was called for a questionable holding penalty, which
is in the game highlights on nfl.com).

状况发生了根本变化。因为步枪杀伤力突飞猛进，而同时期的火炮威力尚不足以在步枪
射程外把防线轰开缺口，所以步兵的防御力被大大增强，正面直接进攻防御阵地将导致
极为惨重的伤亡。南北战争中每8 次进攻会有7 次失败。因此双方若以对方主力部队为
目标，强行直接进攻对方阵地，往往会在进攻方遭受巨大损失后，形成僵持局面。
Bevin Alexander 认为：
南北战争中，大多数政治家和军官都视敌人的主力部队为主要目标。只有少数军官，例
如他极为推崇的南军的Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson ，以及北军的William
Tecumseh Sherman，能够理解避开敌军主力，打击敌人后方的重要意义。南北战争的
最终结果，本质上归结于Sherman 在1864年总统选举前成功攻占Atlanta ，以及他在此
之后的“向大海进军”战略对南方联盟战争意志的打击，而非旷日弥久和伤亡惨重的阵

基本没有反攻北方联邦的能力。但是北方联邦如果只采用正面强攻，Robert E. Lee
可以坚守到北方联邦厌战，Lincoln 下台，然后就有机会谈判。而在Sherman 成功攻占
Atlanta 并横扫南方联盟腹地后，虽然Lee 没有立刻投降，但是他的部队已经由于缺乏
补给和人心涣散而濒临崩溃。因此Bevin Alexander 评价Sherman 为the general who
won the civil war 。
普法战争中普军主要是依靠运动战创造合围法军的机会，而不是靠正面强攻法军阵地获
得胜利的。拿破仑三世在色当要塞投降的主要原因也是因为被普军合围后，法军骑兵无
法突围，这其实反映了普军的阵地防御力可以抵御法军的冲锋。

但是每次迂回李将军都被迫后撤。李将军一直退到petersburg，离
richmond只有10来miles的地方，然后petersburg和richmond互为犄角，
格兰特插不进去，这个战术粮道就断不了了。
所以格兰特只能从战略上断粮道，让sherman烧掉整个南方剩下的存粮。
所以战略上还是老李被围最后是饿死的。
谢尔曼不同，南部南军兵力不足，挡不住sherman拆铁路，烧粮仓。
谢尔曼遇到的最大城市是亚特兰大，事实上谢尔曼也没有攻城，
而是绕了亚特兰大转了一整圈，打了十几仗，击溃了所有试图拦截的南军，
把所有的铁路都拆掉，把乡村的存粮都烧光，守军发现守城只能饿死，
只好强行突围，把亚特兰大留给sherman的。 |
