how crafty Bengu Sezen has been, Sames did not have to push 3 grad students
out of his group unfairly (for not being able to reproduce those fake
results). And he should have not slept with a group member while he was her
PhD advisor.

Steve Mason教授是个喜欢做好人的人。印象比较深的是，有一次开组会，应该是什么
ethics training，大家说起了Sames和Sezen的事情（他们两就用真名了，也算是公众
人物了）。他说： Sames人很聪明，早年还为我说了几句话呢（他是指grants，
proposals之类的事情）。他出了事以后，我看到报纸报道，就赶紧给他发了email，说
听说你那里出了不少事情，good luck。Steve然后反问我们，你们觉得我做得对吗？说
罢环视左右，大家都没出声。
我自认在科研上天赋不高。Qualify过得有点丢脸。试来拭去的折腾了到了二年级末，
也没找到高ee。只能如实地把做过的事说一遍。Committee劈头盖脸地说，应该
formulate hypothesis，应该hypothesis driven，screening没意义等等等等等等。我

在这里潜水多年了，现在有了空儿，把一些事写出来。不是为了什么，也没有什么目的
，就当是个树洞吧。因为写的事情多多少少和化学有些关系，就发在这里了。

听说，人生最悲剧的就是放弃了不该放弃的，坚持了不该坚持的。
博士毕业了，我也离开了化学这一行。我觉得有些事，不是我们这一行的人很难理解，
所以把一些多余的话写出来，纪念一下似水流年。回过头来我觉得我们这些人都可以说
，我这一生最好的几年都是在hood里度过的，所以似乎也应该写下来。
我对化学，似乎有一些家庭渊源。我的父亲是做化工的，母亲也曾在化学实验室里工作
。小的时候就经常到我母亲工作的地方去，看到玻璃的瓶瓶罐罐，还是颇有神秘感的。
作为小朋友，现在想，我对科学的热情还是很高的，小学生的时候就在家里电解盐水（
可不是PS上的胡扯）。本科的时候也不知道怎么弄的，最后学了化学。应该说我对
quantitative的东西应该更擅长一些，本科时，物化的成绩一直比有机要好，但是因为

发帖数: 172 | 11 我也不觉得push需要惩罚。当初申请薄厚的时候老板要我保证每周至少工作60小时，我
也不觉得这是什么不合理要求。毕竟我们的行业需要，我自己都会那么做。
但Sames事件完完全全不同，是公平问题。大家在质疑为什么Sames为什么没有受到任何
惩罚。ChemBark上有个问题：“How is it that a professor can be given the
lionshare of credit for a body of good work when published, yet escape the
lionshare of the blame when the work is proven fraudulent?”在你看来Sames已
经名声受损，在学术界这就是最重要的了。但道德惩罚真的能代替纪律处分吗？那哥大
为什么要收回Sezen的学位？ |
