买的房子前任主人养了大狗，地毯上都是狗毛，而且也很旧了（>8年）。老婆建议换了
，我想自己试着DIY，打算自己搞。mitbbs上没有搜到什么diy地毯的帖子，想在这里请
教一下：
1. 地毯怎么买，我觉得量好各个房间和楼梯尺寸了，是不是直接买一整块回来慢慢切
成各个房间的尺寸，还是按照各个房间一个一个的order？一个朋友是找人做的，劝我
根本不能自己来弄，说那地毯是师傅量好去仓库切的，运回来的时候都得用叉车什么的
，人力根本不能弄动。是这样的么？
2. 专门工具需要什么？我看了看，大概就是stretcher，knee kicker和seam iron比较
专门，是不是可以在home depot租到？其实harbor freight也有这几样，买下来估计也
就$100多点，就是不知道好不好使。

cheapest. Installation is $97 for the whole house plus additional charges
for stairs. You can rip off old carpets, but I don't think it worth doing
installation. It is heavy and need some skills for seaming. Otherwise you
will see bumps in the room.

他做， 就必须换。 给量了一下 gutter 加上down sprout 大约300 ft。 估价是全包$
2700 （铝的guttter），觉得太贵了。 大家有什么换gutter 或修gutter 的经验分享
吗？ gutter 是用铝的还是vinyl 的好？

我的地板是水泥的，不需要把防潮塑料布需要粘在地上，铺开后用SEAM TAPE把它们连
成一大张就好了。MOISTURE BARRIER的作用就是把水泥渗出来的潮气同LAMINATE隔开。
T-molding不是用来撞在边上的，而是连接不同房间的LAMIATE地板过度用的。（看照片
-1）。我也是用LIQUID NAILS粘T-molding到水泥地上的，粘之前把下面的那一小条塑
料布裁掉就行了。 |

style surface ，以期保证长期优良性能。你还是local找找买吧，虽然免运费，万一

通常estimator会给提供图纸和报价，自己预先估算一下，做到心中有数，才能知道价
格是否公道。
检验的方式，是亲自动手将家里量一遍，将客厅，走廊，卧室，衣橱画做二维平面图。
如果是铺木地板，只需要将面积相加之和乘以1.08来计算地板材料的面积，将周长相加
乘以1.05 计算molding的总量，用所有房间的周长和乘以高度来计算大致的涂料用量。
如果是地毯的的话，还要考虑不同的layout direction， seam placement，每个cut加
三英寸的cut margin，比较复杂，就不展开说了。
特别地，要精细地测量卫生间地面和墙面。原因有二：一是décor和bullnose铺面比较
贵，估算精准了才方便控制成本。二是在买材料的时候，有的是按LF买有的按SF买，将
房间的估算量breakdown成多个维度，方便采购。
估算地砖和墙砖，一般用测量面积乘以1.1。类似的，grout用量也是用总面积乘以1.05
. 如果要做一些墙面瓷砖的设计，需要自己记录每一边的尺寸，便于计算bullnose，d
écor，wallbase。
