我觉得讲俗一点儿 就是“孩子们在一起分享各家的爸爸”。
那么正式地讲就是培养男孩子在学习和体育之外的诸多能力，比如户外 outdoor，动

多都有教会的帮助和支持。
华人的孩子我知道的有不少，很多还很积极。在我看来，就是室外活动。Boy Scout的
一些主张我觉得很积极向上。男孩子可以有机会射箭，打枪，玩刀。组织的都很安全。
Cub Scout的时候，活动都很family。到boy scout的时候，会有很强的室外活动，不一
定每个孩子都能够资格参加，比如在外野营一个星期，每天十几英里等等。

；另外没有这个露营的事。我们家人挺喜欢 Girl Scout 的 cookie 的，特别是那个
thin mint，自己家买几盒，然后问问同事、朋友、邻居，也卖不了很多，可是我要求
宝宝自己说话，我在旁边帮忙，觉得也还有点得到锻炼的效果。
我们也不在商店门口摆摊，因为 leaders 不喜欢这种方式。可能另一个原因是我们
troop 总有个把小孩儿能卖二、三百盒，所以一般也就够了。哦，我们是三块五一盒，
原来大城市啥都贵。
露营那事儿我们这儿连 boy scout 都是要家长陪的，girl scout 现在还没有。这个应
该是看 leader 的想法了。我觉得并不是每次活动必须参加，如果就是因为这个，可以
选择不去露营吧。 |

cub scouts要求家长参与挺多的，不能光指望den leader。别的不说，一群七八岁的孩
子，一个家长能罩得住？然后要做的各种事情，没有家长督促引导，还真不一定做得下
来。
到了五年级，去boy scouts，家长投入可以少一点，更适合双职工家庭。不一定需要先
前的cub scouts经验。我们娃们就没有去过cub scouts。（BSO：他们各种生存急救野
营做饭，玩雪玩水玩火玩冰的技艺并不十分差，大孩子赞美道：你们的cub den把你们
教得不错嘛。）
社交技巧不技巧不好说了，能提供一个社交场合。
最大的好处，能提供一个外界的教育源，教育孩子如何遵守社会的公行良序。
对亚裔孩子也挺好，因为教育内容属于学分性质，可以一样一样抓。德育之外，一项一
项领徽章，打怪升级。项目个人自选，基本上涵括了你可以想到的任何方面，甚至
nerdy学问，从核子物理到计算机编程，都可以挣徽章。 |

子们出去camping，投入很多时间。以前同事参加boy scout，中学的时候去给national
zoo修fence什么的，反正就是很多outdoor activity, 很多volunteer work

岁时，我就忧国忧民，中午替娃去考察博物馆。博物馆有好几个区， 有游乐区，野营
区，还有历史介绍，一墙的油画， 有专门的志愿者给讲解，总的来说，boy scout 历
史很悠久，曾经很壮大，现在日益衰落，有很强的组织纪律性，和基督教有密不可分的
