Every natural product has its function/meaning to be there after million/
billion years of evolution. It is just people don't know the exact function
YET. Let alone how to use them (the application). People's knowledge
towards nature is so limited that they are sometimes too ignorant to study
them.
As to small molecules, large number of them do not have biological function.

I meant "academic recognitions" not "target recognitions"~~ I like Crews
work a lot, and I think he deserves more credit. "credit" should have been the word to use (BS my english..||).
I guess Schreiber will disagree and say that "more targets could be
regulated by one natural product". But compared with synthetic molecules, I
always put my bet on natural products. |

"academic recognitions"..hehe...
Indeed, "more targets could be regulated by one natural product".
Schreiber is very smart to attract top biologists (half of his lab) back
in the days.
Similar to what Deng said about cats, no matter what kind of molecule
is, synthetic or natural, it's a good one if it has cool biological
functions, even better if it could become a drug |

做的东西。不过chemical biology我是门外汉，读他们的东西完全是兴趣，没有资格评
价他们谁更好一些。不管如何，都不影响这本书质量。 |

sloan-kettering有rudensky, james allison
wash u有Ken murphy和Robert D. Schreiber
都是HHMI的名人。不过今天在MD ANDERSON面试，听说MD ANDERSON要聘请JAMES
ALLISON来做chair。
我很喜欢wash u的氛围，大大的校园，还有大学和本科部的支持，可以修修其他的课程。
slaon-kettering地理位置优势，接临洛克菲洛大学和康奈尔医学院，感觉合作起来很
方便，大牛也不少，3个学校的互动很多。
但是许多人都嫌弃st louis不好，我到觉得比起NYC，这个地方很便宜，可以有汽车开
，有房子住，一年28000的奖学金也够了。
在纽约，sloan给33000，但是宿舍一个月就750，还有室友，厨房超级小，没客厅，而
且在纽约要做bus, subway，很不爽。
这已经是我的top 2 offer了。接下来还有一个mayo clinic，u chicago考虑，Mayo
clinic好处就是5年学校奖学金，教授不出钱。

总体不错，个人有些不同意的地方，比如在肿瘤起始阶段，我个人认为是因为早期的突
变如P53， PTEN这些，没有免疫原性，对细胞总体的改变也不大，因此免疫系统没有识
别到，这些单个的细胞于是逐步扩增，同时积累各种突变，而其中有些突变就能够形成
各种对抗免疫细胞识别机制，包括物力屏障，抵抗免疫细胞主动运输，减少抗原呈递，
形成抑制性微环境等一系列步骤，最后形成一个能够完全对抗和逃避免疫攻击的瘤体组
织。 不太认同他理论里说的先能够完全清除，再过渡到平衡这个过程。

薄后阶段我也觉得发好文章是最主要的， steve rosenberg还凑合，james allison那
边文章就不行了， Bob schreiber 感觉文章出的有点慢，但是文章质量都不错 |
