Hi everyone,
How are you this week? Greetings! Welcome to our Dance Class this Saturday (
July 24th).
In the last week, we have learned basic steps of Rumba, cucarachas, and
Rumba walk. And now this week, we will start to have Bronze Level Rumba
Routine. The bronze level of Rumba is the combination of most useful and
easiest Rumba steps.
At the studio party last weekend the pro-instructors did a group dance, which
was a mixture of hiphop and rumba -- some hiphop music can fit really well
with rumba. They were wearing jeans and baseball cap or gangster hats, dancing
hiphop to the rap part of the song and rumba to the musical part. It was so
much fun to watch, especially the standard guy's hiphop: it was just hilarious!
The comments said it was in hongkong on sept 20.
the rumba has a lot of anna and filip stuff. i like the rumba, but feels it needs a little spice (some ticks, in Backrock's words, when (s)he commented on my rumba). it is soft, needs a bit more change of speed and accent. but in all it is beautiful.
the chacha is ok, not terrific. needs more speed, not pauses.
thanks for finding them!
i like golden eye ya, it has quite strong beat, good for beginners to pick up
the 2341 rhythm. i found, basically, u can dance chacha to most quick pop,
rumba to slow pop, samba to hip-pop, jive or american rumba to jazz, depending
on its tempo, hahaha, although none of them very latin ;)
btw, fish, if you read this post
let's use this song for our rumba showcase, if we ever get
the chance to do one. (:

Title - Vuelvo Al Sur
it is a sensual rumba song with Argentine Tango elements. a 6-minute piece
with strong distinct beats. my teacher used the first 3 minutes for a rumba
showdance combined with arg tango moves.

enjoy!
You can collect this rumba song. it's my recent favorite. Well, "recent
favorite" is defined as "being listened to repeatedly 30 times" :D Beata and
Max used it for show dance. it could be a nice combination of rumba and
foxtrot (foxtrot most identifiable at 3:26 - 3:41. it's the instrument that
makes it sound like foxtrot, i guess).
Best listening experience of this song: stay away from lighting or noise, go
to a window, just feel the wind drift under the night sky (of course don't
do it if it

The International Rumba differs from the American (Box-Step) Rumba in 4 ways:
First; the leg action is slightly – but only slightly – different (don’t
let it be a big deal).
Second; we ‘break’ on 2, 3 instead of on 1, 2, or 3, 4.
Third; the Basic Pattern is called an “Open Box” (and doesn’t look
anything at all like a Box).
Fourth; Partners’ are frequently dancing patterns that are not ‘natural
opposites’.
This means a visual contact is
even more necessary than
老大,Allan Tornsberg当着我面儿谆谆教导说(International)Rumba要数one-two-
three-ding-ding,2-3-4~-1不够musical!
As for the American Rumba, as far as I understand, some figures such as
basic box step use SQQ timing and some such as open break use QQS timing.
Therefore, in order to switch back-and-forth between QQS and SQQ, one needs
to add a QQ or an S. That was quite confusing. Therefore, in terms of the
beat, we can have two ways of counting as you said.

现在的问题是,女士在什么beat做hip twist,怎么做才 sharp好看?两人什么时候turn
together to get into fan?
我的体会士男士用 arm connection拽女士冲自己过来,然后 送arm给女士向右后的冲力
,帮助她向做sharp turn。
男士 back rock在2-3-4的4之前两人同时turn,get to the fan
can somebody (ggb, you know whom i'm talking about) give some hints about
how to choreograph a Latin routine?
There are some general rules for standard routines, for example, there needs
to be
contrasts, dynamics in speed, shape, etc. The picture line figures, namely
contra
check, left whisk, oversway..., are usually placed at the 3/4 of the long side
.
So i wonder what's the general rule for latin routine? and it'd be great if
someone
can do us a favor of choreographing a gold rumba routine.
Th
oh well, I sure know that, but I still kind of want to fight it a little bit,
which obviously seems pretty much futile here... oh well...
the circular/continuous hip twist is a further development of advanced hip
twist, they should be in the same section in the technique book. since you
already confessed you don't have a book ( oops : ), here's a video: http://home.comcast.net/~xulee/three_alemanas_and_circular_hip_twist.wmv
in the routine you saw, we did contiunous total 9 rumba walks, which co
There is no rock step in either rumba or chacha for the lady to get into the
fan position or come out of the fan position.
The last step for the lady to finish in the fan position is left foot back. I
assume that is what you refer to. There is an angle between the man and lady
when the lady ends in the fan position. How can either one of them have a
squared hip given that the angle causes man's left foot and lady's right foot
pointing at each other? Am I missing something?
Rumba time... thus time to increase the tension between the Male and Fem
ale dancer. It is important that the choreographic patterns allow the Wo
man to emphasise her hips trough movements. In the Woman's expression sh
e must show her awareness of the impact that these hip movements have on
the Man. The Man's hip movements are sensual, he is aware doing it, but
this is not the most important action for the Man. He uses his total bo
dy to create physical domination to impress the Woman and he sta

The dancing is decent, the choreography is copied
from several WSS rumba routines. But the whole thing
looks so ridiculous to me.
It makes me wonder, how much shall the characteristics
of each dance be respected, and how much shall the
authenticity be preserved.
I admit that the five latin dances have developed to
certains "forms" of dances carrying more or less
characteristics of their origines. Not having to stick
to the origines gives freedom to each

thanks whippersnapp for sharing your favorite songs. i am still enjoying
Abrazame :) And i have a different version of Perfidia (instrumental, very
nice one). Jaci Velasquez has another rumba song Es Amor, which i posted
earlier (the title was mistaken to be Bendito Amor by Casa Musica). now i
get to hear the real Bendito Amor, which is pretty good.
Marc Anthony's I Need to Know is a terrific chacha song! is he J Lo's
husband? this is the first time i hear his song - great singer.

what part of this rumba is different from other dancing of theirs?
if we take away the fairwell scene, what touched you, dancing-wise?
BTW, i don't agree about missing the timing while being emotional. If they
did miss the timing, I hope not, it will be really funny, especially if you
also listen to what the MC was saying right before they danced.
i was thinking of this clip in 2004. maybe the rumba took place much later
and he improved a lot? I saw a lot more control in his movement. 我一直以为

for some reason, i read the video title as "Rumba - Slavik and Hanna" and I
was so shocked how good they

miss the time when they danced together...
your links don't work.
Historia de un Amor is one of my favorite rumba songs (Laura Fygi's version)

I don't like any chinese versions, though. they sound weird due to the
chinese lyrics.
