发帖数: 577 | 3 建retaining wall的关键是高度，不同的city对高度有不同的限制。以Bellevue为例，
超过30"要申请permit，结构上每30"要后退30"，也就是建成梯田状，还要在底部加排
水。如果单层超过30"，需要额外申请code violation exception，还要找geo
engineer做soil analysis，找structural engineer设计wall structure & sewer。
其次是材料。30"以下的可以去HomeDepot搞点砖DIY，30"以上的一般用Rockery，
Concrete或者UltraBlock，需要专业机械。Concrete最灵活，弄好rebar一浇筑就好了
，便宜但是难看。Rockery和UltraBlock需要geo grid和起重机，另外对compact土壤有
要求(>3000psi)。 |

把草全部除了，挖几寸基地，地面找平，然后从rockery买一卡车碎石和沙子倒进去，
然后铺砖，铺完砖可以从房子延伸出来一个sun room，用木板raise起来的，可以做
glass rooftop或者convertible的但是比较贵。 |

我们家附近的有 U save rockery.
BTW, 你要喜欢鹅卵石我没有办法。但是那个东西对种东西来所
真是特别讨厌。我有个朋友以前房主铺过，怎么搞都搞不掉。
下雨了之后石头就钻到土里面了，入地特别深。所以全部挖
出来工程量特别大，痛苦死了。结果那地方只能铺上，不能用
了。三思啊。 |

If the site is too low, and you are worry about standing water, change your
plan to a water feature. You already got a rock-solid bottom, literally, to
begin with, that saves a lot of time and effort to build the footing :)
For mosquitoes or other pests concerns, if your climate is dry, you can make
it a rain garden, so that there is no standing water except right after
rains. Otherwise, your need a water pump and a cascading water fall, make
