前两天刚刚在朋友那里看到她的学生们做的project，"Rethink Your Drink"。把各种
大小老少群众的饮料，内含的糖分，用直见人心的方式，展示在我们面前。虽然我几乎
不喝那些，看得也是心惊肉跳，恨不得马上转给我们家少爷们的老师看，巴不得她们也
搞一个这样的活动。
今天居然看到有个帖子，汇总了好多类似的活动。难道老美开始集体反攻可口可乐了么
？哦耶～～～
随便在家里找了几种孩子们爱喝的饮料
一瓶16.9oz的 Gatorade，内含29克的糖！！！怪不得那天医生告诉老大，喝Gatorade

节前最后一天晚上，太过兴奋睡不着觉。说说最近面试招人的一点感想吧。
公司刚开始招人，我是负责电话面试的interviewer之一，同时参于面试的还有我的老
板。
这份工作技术性很强，来参加面试的都有PhD学位。至今为止面试了3位，两位中国人一
位中东人。
两位中国人的学术背景和工作经验都比中东人高出很多。但我的老板却很不喜欢。要不
是我拼命为其中还不算太差的那位说好话的话，老板就把他们通通第一轮面试刷下去了
。唉，真是可惜。
两个中国人都非常一致的弱点---
1. 英语！！！这两位的英语连我都听的非常非常的难受，更别提我老板了。想不通，
在美国生活了十年左右了，PhD也是美国拿的，还有点美国的工作经验，怎么英语会那
么那么的差。相反，那个中东人来美3年，没走出过校园，英语除了一点口音之外，简
直就是native speaker的水平。

不过，FG还是跟其他的有档次上的差别。我AML都拿过offer，AM都拿过多次。但是被F

coding. 各位有什么好办法？
几个myths (just according to my personal experience):
1. 好学校会有很大用 - Do not count on it. 我原来是top phd program.当然我是非
常挫的一个（我的大部分师兄弟都在F和G）
2. 相关专业会有帮助 - Again, do not count on it. 我是做数据挖掘的，也在搜索
领域好久了。但是这没啥用。F和G问的相关东西不多（G基本就没问）。M 问过一些，L

发帖数: 5892 | 45 近日，德信理财(Desjardins Financial Security)针对加拿大退休者做出2009年重新考虑退休调查报告(2009 Rethink Retirement Survey)。调查询问了400多位加拿大退休者在2009年的生活情况。
并不是所有退休者都衣食无忧
在全职退休者中，55%能维持基本需求开支和一些额外开支(例如给自己孩子和孙辈买礼物等)，以及爱好或旅游开支等；27%只能维持基本需求开支，其中近2/3的人(62%)年收入不足2万元，逾2/5的人(44%)在过去一年中负债增加。
一些退休者选择继续工作
很多雇主为避免婴儿潮一带(baby boomers)大量退休造成岗位空缺似乎正在挽留退休者。近1/6的退休者(16%)继续工作，其中一些人(46%)是因为需要钱，还有一些人 (29%)是因为经济衰退削减了他们的退休收入。年轻的退休者(55-64岁)更愿意继续工作(25%)，老年退休者(年龄超过65岁的)中只有11%选择继续工作。

发帖数: 70028 | 46 据美国世界新闻网编译报道，今日美国报1日报导，其它的国家经常利用移民政策达到国家目标，但美国移民政策不但极不理性，而且摇摆不定，经常使重心游移于边境安全、非法移民、毒品走私和犯罪等不同议题之间，而缺乏长期性的政治和经济考虑。
时论作者韦斯特(Darrell M. West)在今日美国报上指出，造成美国移民政策缺乏理性的背后主要原因是，很多人对于移民和移民政策抱着七大错误迷思。韦斯特在“吸引人才：重思美国移民政策”(Brain Gain:Rethinking U.S.Immigration Policy)的新书中指出这些迷思是：
迷思一：非法移民不缴税。这不正确，因为许多非法移民有工作和收入，其实他们缴很多税。他们缴的税包括所得税、社会安全和医疗照顾税；他们到商店购物，须缴销售税；租屋或购置房屋，须付房地产税。一项研究显示，非法移民一年付的联邦税、州税和地方税总额高达1620亿元。另一项研究显示，非法移民缴的税比获得的福利高出1800元。

这里从国际社会学的角度，分析一下中国百年国耻的原因。中国1840年到1949年百年国
耻，主要表现在中国打输了两次鸦片战争，打输了甲午战争，九一八之后不战而弃东北
、平津。打输这三场战争，完完全全不是历史的必然，都不是实力的问题。对于九一八
日本是侥幸白捡了东三省，学术界没有异议。对于只要迁都抗战，中国完全可能打赢甲
午战争，学术界没有大的争议。对于鸦片战争，则颇有争议。阿富汗打了八十年，打了
三场英阿战争，三次打败英国，最后彻底打走了英国 。中国在所有方面比阿富汗不知
强大多少倍，可是，打输了鸦片战争，打输了甲午战争，蒋介石不战而弃东北、平津。
为什么？大陆现行大中小学教材的解释基本上是错误的，并不是中国的国力弱小。
1．两次鸦片战争
1841年小小的阿富汗就打败了38000英国入侵军，包括全歼16000多英军主力，1840
年4000英军打败中国绝非历史的必然。有学者以为，鸦片战争中国必败，怎么打都肯定
