美國共和黨全國代表大會今天公布2016年黨綱指出，反對兩岸任何一方片面改變台海現
狀，關於台灣未來的所有問題，必須透過對話和平解決，並且需要台灣人民同意；如果
中國大陸違反這些原則，「美國基於台灣關係法，將幫助台灣自衛。」
黨綱並指出，共和黨讚揚台北新政府，在繼續台海兩岸建設性關係上的努力，並且呼籲
中國大陸相向回應（to reciprocate）。
共和黨也讚揚台灣人民，與台灣分享民主、人權、自由市場經濟的價值觀和法治；台美
雙方的關係將持續基於台灣關係法，以及雷根總統於1982年給予台灣的六項保證。
共和黨透過黨綱表示，台灣值得共和黨大力支持，包括自由貿易協定的地位，及適時出
售防禦性武器，這包含建造潛艇的技術；另外，還有充分參與世界衛生組織、國際民航
