pretext for western powers to intervene and extract concessions from Japan.
That would have taken time to resolve. Also, death of Li would have meant
nobody else from Qing court was left who were willing and able to attend the

could be fought.
If Beiyang was strong enough to ensure victory over Japan, those officials
in power would never ever allow Li Hong Zhang to start the war, because a
victory would solidify his power base.

哎，我也知道这个是小问题，但还是纠结，到底给孩子起个中文拼音还是英文名字。
话说老大是中文拼音，现在没上学，也没觉得不方便，但每次碰到老外问起来叫什么，
我们要用别扭的英文发音去说他那个中文名字，虽然不是很困难，但我自己总觉得好怪
异啊，连孩子自己发音也像外国人在念名字了。当初取的时候，觉得中国人的孩子，名
字得有点中国特色。
老二还没出来，现在在纠结是不是起个英文，主要目的是跟任何人说起来都省事，不别
扭，周围中国人家的孩子都是英文名字。想着之后再给个中文名在中国人群里随便叫叫。
我又发现周围其他族裔的孩子，感觉都是自己国家的名字，不管是日本韩国还是西班牙
小印，一看名字就知道是母语名字，也没什么叫mike, tom, jerry, peter的，所以我
又觉得给孩子起个英文名好像有点对不起中国裔这个身份，哎，所以纠结。
另外，爸爸特别想用个中文拼音。
