养狗需要的commitment比初始买狗的钱要多的多
吃饭玩具这种日常开销不算
看兽医100一次算少的保险一般deduct 100
然后每次你出去vacation
要么你多花点钱带狗一起去住pet friendly的hotel
要么让狗狗去day care, day care一般20-40+一天不等
啃家具之类的开销因狗而易
俺家的就消耗了50块的coffee table一张
也有消耗几千块的沙发的
so if you don't agree the dog worth 750 bucks, dont bother adopting it.

poster (The fact you keep saying that he's bashing OP makes me think that
perhaps you are just overly sensitive). Secondly, he didn't try to *enforce*
his standard on anyone - someone posted something and he gave his honest
opinion. This is a BBS - how on earth can he enforce that on anyone? And I

so LZ has an idea about the potential cost and be aware of the
responsibility. It is indeed concerning to see LZ saying "break my heart to
spend $750 on a puppy".
Not everything listed by PST10 has to be done (like birthday :)). The actual
cost vary a lot mainly depending on dog's health. But if a person looks at
the list and still feels he wants a dog, he is more ready and the dog is
less likely to be abandoned later.

关于上面的回帖有两种说法：
一个是给狗狗绝育是剥夺狗狗的权利。这件事情在我送小家伙去之前，也是狠狠的做了
好几天research。养狗的人，大多是疼他们的，怎么舍得在他们身上动刀子。但是狗狗
不绝育有好几个隐患。一个是会容易的肿瘤。二是，从一岁开始，一年两次的特殊时期
，他们会很痛苦。三是生下来的小狗怎么安排。我想过要自己养。但是就算是一年生一
窝，也是不可能负担下来的。送出去要一个个验证好人家不说，难道不是对狗狗的残忍
么？非要他们骨肉分离。不要说主人都是因为怕麻烦让狗狗挨一刀。我当时送她去之后
，提心吊胆了一天，接回来，又提心吊胆了2个星期，一直到复查医生说恢复良好，才
放心下来。送她去做手术，是我权衡很久最后的决定，是为了她将来的健康快乐。
二是说美国的狗狗太金贵了。这个么，人要与时俱进。为了看家护院养狗狗的（假设在
农村），大多生活水平都不高，周围的兽医的水平也不高。弄个狗瘟，死了，也没法子
。可是现在明明有疫苗可以防止狗狗得病，难道为了省钱不去打？狗狗陪了你10年之后
，老了，生病了，难道有条件治，却不给它治，就为 |

best private schools, I wouldn't say you are bashing me 'cause you are
making a general point which is not specifically geared towards me.
PS: PST10 didn't deny he judged. He didn't say he was bashing AFAIK unless I
missed posts. There's a distinct difference.

Have you guys heard about puppy mill? I don't think there's a huge problem
with getting a puppy for free. But the point is: Would you also treat the
puppy as a "FREE" item, without caring much, for example to abandon it later
on? So I fullly support PST10.

overwhelming maybe.
A prepared "to-be" owner, or following your very awkward analogy a prepared
"to-be" mother, is much more mentally stronger than one with zero knowledge. |

太明白是怎么推出来的。PST10的原文没有任何地方提到最贵最好这些字眼，他/她列出
的绝大多数都是合理的花销，除了grooming, organic food，过生日这些恐怕刺痛一些
人的眼睛。但是谁也没说这是必须的。
现实是大家不管多穷，会尽量给孩子自己能做到的最好的生活，但是，不是所有人都愿
意在狗身上花钱，哪怕就几百块。这就是问题所在。这就是为什么养之前要想清楚，愿
不愿意花钱，在一条狗身上。
pets版会有些个别极端言论，大家一致认同的是养了就要负责，对宠物不离不弃。这个
不离不弃，除了爱心，很多时候是靠金钱解决的，比如狗如果损坏家具，比如要搬家，
比如出门旅游的话请人来看等等。这些都不是什么意想不到的特殊情况，都是要钱解决

回馈有很多，物质只是其中的一种。好多喜欢狗的人都说狗比猫好是因为狗忠诚，不会
因为家里穷而离开。狗不会用物质来衡量你，你却用物质衡量狗。
按这推理穷人是不是因为不能给孩子买好奶粉，好衣服，好学
校，因为要
工作不能给孩子所有的时间和关注就不配有孩子呢？

其实PST10不是judge你，可能看到太多uneducated 1st-time owner了。Nothing
personal.
不过我真的不推荐大家从pet store买小狗，不了解的朋友们可以bing or google "
puppy mill"。看看宠物店的小狗哪里来的。

恕我直言，您还是别养狗了。
购买puppy所付的一次性费用，跟后续的你要为他/她一生所不断持续追加的费用相比，
简直是微不足道的。
在你的puppy领回家以后，需要为他购买一系列的用具，笼子，100多，狗盆，狗垫子，
colar, leash, shampoo，towel，每件都小，但是从petco出来你发现账单其实有300多。
你还需要为他第一年买一个保险，至少200多，你愿意么？
刚开始要为他注射3-4次疫苗，每次都要100多，你会掏钱么？
第一年会经常生病，拉稀，每次去看医生至少要100多（就算买了保险也经常要付药品
的费用），你会带他去看病么？
puppy不懂事，会啃坏你的家具，在你崭新的地毯上撒尿，你的吸尘器会因为吸他的毛
而坏掉，不得不购进一个更昂贵的可以吸狗毛的吸尘器，这些你都愿意支付么？
