去年在普通账户买了几千刀的prpfx，这次收到1099-div。显示total capital gain di
stribution =18.63，但是包括有2.66刀的28% collectible gain。看了下，好像必须
填1040长表，然后还要填schedule D, 那个weeksheet又狂复杂。
今年是第一次在普通账户买基金，赚了几十块钱，却惹了一身骚。
大家说这个2.66刀能忽略吗，直接填个1040A，在total capital gain distribution里
面填上18.63？

我也是菜鸟，瞎说两句仅供参考：
1.看基金的组成，有没有你想要的资产组合，比例是不是你希望看到的；2.看基金成立
了多久，中间是否换过经理，太新的还不能信赖，得给它些时间先证明自己；3.看收益
，不光是1年2年手气好坏，得看5年10年是不是一直很稳定；4.看risk，max draw down
有多大，是你能接受的吗，你会忍受不了把它过早卖了吗；5.看expense ratio，几十
年下来这个有可能吃掉你相当一部分收益；6.其它种种不一而足。
具体到prpfx，这是根据Harry Browne的 permanent portfolio 一个比较早期的版本建
立的基金。具体内容可以自己google一下，你会发现prpfx的holding和Harry Browne
后来的版本并不完全一样（比如cash的部分是瑞士法郎，再比如里边塞了很高比例的
real estate和natural resource...）。不同的人看法不一样，我更喜欢prpfx的这个
版本，应为它稍微倾向的是一副gloomy 的前景，至少适合你用来对冲手里的growth

如果对黄金投资 GLD 不放心的话，可以用 PRPFX。 PRPFX 拥有的是实物黄金。
PRPFX 每年的收益要比 4X25 少 1%，其中 0.7% 交了管理费。好处是省心，不用每年
去BALANCE。 |

PRPFX has 20% gold, 5% silver, 10% Swiss bond, 15% REIT and Natural
resources, 15 aggressive growth stocks, and 35% US bond.
If you construct a portfolio using 25% gold, 45% VBMFX (Vanguard Total Bond), 7.5% XLE, 7.5% VGSIX (Vanguard REIT) and 15% VIRGX (Vanguard Growth Index), and rebalance at the year-end every year, you get similar performance from 1/1/2004. Mr. Cuggino takes over PRPFX at mid-2003.

st flat in the last decade. you basically times the return of investment
with 0.75. if you really want to damp the vibration why not do 50% or even
100% cash?
if you already have emergency fund, it's unnecessary to invest 25% into cas

overall i am not sure if i want to manage the individual parts of the pp mys
elf, or just invest in prpfx. prpfx seems to have higher return but also hig

out the cash part? Cash is a necessary buffer in the portfolio and do not
forget sometimes "cash is king". In 2002 and 2008 Your emergency fund will
cover the daily expense if you lose job but you need cash to "buy property
when there is blood on street".
The four ETF funds are cheaper compare to PRPFX and present the original

据说经济形势好转，加上QE3结束，对inflation的担心减少，所以TIPS跌的比一般的bo
nd更厉害。
prpfx据说和interest rate负相关，所以比较惨。黄金和bond都不行。
据说在interest rate上行的时候，stock:bond=60:40比prpfx更好。 |

It's such a simple, but unintuitive, but again excellent idea.
the allocation goes like this:
25% gold: economic and political turbulence, unexpected inflation
25% LT treasury bond: deflation, flight to quality
25% cash: recession, expected inflation
25% stocks: prosperity
gold, LT t-bond, cash are all considered bad long term investment ideas,

about it.
PRPFX sort of inherit the idea with the following allocation
20% gold
5% silver
10% swiss franc
15% natural resource + REIT
15% growth stocks
35% dollar, including both long term bond and short term bills
It emphasis more towards inflation protection over deflation.
yeah right, helicopter Ben knows how to get over deflation anyway..
but when it happens, e.g. second half 2008, the 4x25 portfolio
certainly did better |

这里有篇文章讨论了一个permanent portfolio fund：PRPFX。这个基金的问题之一就
在于有点随意地偏离permanent portfolio主张的asset allocation，结果是不太妙，
16年平均下来每年比严格的permanent portfolio低一个百分点，而风险则高两个百分
点。
