遇到这本中学生读物前已经好久没有投缘的书进账了。Gandhi：Fighter without a
Sword是儿子从学校的免费书堆里淘回来的，书页枯黄如古籍状。书于1950年出版–那
时甘地被刺刚刚两年–次年获得美国少年图书最高奖的「银牌」Newbury Honor。作者
是美国颇有名气的儿童读物作家Jeanette Eaton。看来这书在美国读者不少–儿子拿到
的这本是1970年第十四次印刷。儿子读了书，写进读书日志里。老师在日志的Gandhi一

southern Afghanistan on Thursday when an Afghan soldier, apparently in
league with a civilian, killed an Afghan tower guard and attacked a barracks
