一转眼，5/16日的The Orange Club成立大会暨华裔候选人筹款晚宴已经过了一个多星
期了。大家一定还记得孩子们多才多艺的歌舞表演，还能到体会那激动人心的The
Orange Club的宣传短片，更可能还在回味由Peter Kou小提琴伴奏Bob Buff那让人赞叹
不已的中文歌曲演唱。 不过大家疑问最多的一定是：那天TOC到底筹了多少款，每个候
选人到底最后获捐多少？
TOC其实非常想在第二天就公布数据，但是由于政府对于政治行动组织的资金运作有非
常严格的规定，并且TOC对于这些规章制度还很不熟悉，所以不得不花时间仔细核对每
一笔捐款，每一笔开销，并讨论决定对每种情况该如何处理。经过一周的紧张核对和讨
论，现在终于可以向大家如实地汇报当天的筹款情况。

上周五收到投票点小组负责人Dani的电话，通知了岗位地址和工作时间。
周一晚6点去投票点集合，熟悉环境和工作同事。我被安排的Precinct投票点在
Campbell，距离17号公路不远。本处的Building大概是社区内老人的公共活动场所，里
面设有两个投票点，两个负责人是一对白人父女，父亲J在六七十岁年纪，不算矮但是
横向比较宽，女儿就是我组的领导D，大概三四十岁，三围尺寸大致相当，都很巨型。
我投票点除了D和我，另有组员3人：一个西裔年轻姑娘大概20岁，一对退休白人夫妇R
和S。另一投票点除了J外，有一个华人小伙，两个退休白人老太，另一个姗姗来迟后始
终坐着一动不动的西裔退休老太。我组的西裔姑娘虽然体重很可观，但是力气很大，一
个人搬一张折叠桌毫不费力。布置完了桌椅板凳，检查环境，6：40后散会，相约第二
天早上6点见。
周二早上5：40醒来，醒的有点晚。由于常年不早起，这个点起床很有挑战性。赶快洗
了把脸拿了件厚衣服就出发了。一路畅通，到了地方正好是6点，我组人员5个到齐，J

参与选举是你的权利和义务。即将到来的中期选举是你行使这一珍贵的权利的下一个时
机。在中期选举那天（11月4日）你去投票所之前应该做什么呢？
在截止日期前注册投票无疑是第一步应该做的。各州情况不同。但应该收到地方政府发
出的信件或者卡片证明你的投票资格。
调研被选举人
在网上查找投票样本（Sample Ballot）。因为各州各郡各城市不同，你在投票所会见
到的真正的选举票里会有很多局部的职位。既然是局部的职位，那么这些被选举人会根
据你所居住的地区不同而有不同。比如Local School District Board Member，County
Commissioner， 你所住区域的State Board of Education代表，等等职位都是代表局
部区域的。你所在的城市，你所住的街道，都决定了你的管辖区（Precinct）。也决定
了这些局部职位的被选举人名的不同。找到你所居住的管辖区的投票样本，你就有了被
选举人的人名单。
投票样本上的被选举人有两类。一类人都被标明其所属党派。那么对这类人，哪怕你没

有人推荐我去他家买枣树，我这次没问到，你有这方面的一手资料分享一下么？
另外，其他果树，桃李杏梅苹果梨子樱桃之类的，他家的好吗？
这两棵树我感觉不错，经历了上周的寒流，目前看来没有冻伤，叶子都绿油油的。
我也不是很懂，看到10 gallon的果树全都是硕果累累，没有不挂果的。感觉就很好。
如果您能推荐几个其他nursery买果树，不胜感激。

先安内后攘外 现阶段只关注他们 提醒他们要去投票
给我们做战前动员的老党棍煽动说
别看这种Walking the precincts的工作很单调 很费力
但是很必要的 对自己也是个rewarding experience
我走了好几回 走了好几条街了 说说见闻罢
有一半人家的门是敲不开的 把宣传册子留在门口即可
那些开了门的 反应也是五花八门 很多也不是志同道合一见如故 譬如

我是个很少做梦的人，一向清醒而现实地活着。也许是美国鬼节的气场太过强大，昨晚
一直处于半梦半醒之间，见到一些久远年代的朋友和亲人。有时候我醒了，睁开眼睛，
仿佛他们都还在；等我终于相信这一切都是真实的时候，却又在无意识中昏昏睡去。就
这样，醒了又睡，反复若干次。凌晨的时候外面起了风，谁家的窗户忘了关，在那里咣
咣地抱怨。终于我完全醒了，索性开了窗，站到了阳台外，正是黎明前最为黑暗的时候
。我巡视四方，什么也看不到，也许，过完一年一度的鬼节的幽灵们该回家了。微冷，
我回到床上，裹了被子盘膝坐下，静静地守候黎明。

前出炉，今年共有65个国家和地区的影片参赛，我国大陆地区选送的是《唐山大地
震》、香港地区选送的是《岁月神偷》、台湾地区选送的是《艋舺》。而比较热门
的则有土耳其的《蜂蜜》(Honey)、墨西哥的《美错》(Biutiful)等。
下面简要介绍一下现在的奥斯卡外语片评选流程：
首先，学院洛杉矶地区的几百名成员将一一观看这65部影片并打分，从中选出
6部得分最高的，这个阶段为期3个月。
第二阶段，奥斯卡专门设立的外语片执行委员会再从剩下的影片中投票选出3部
广受好评的佳作加入这个短名单中(共9部)。
第三阶段，学院从纽约和洛杉矶地区挑选部分学院成员组成一个新的评委会，
他们将以每天3部影片的速度在三天内集中观摩这9部影片，并选出最终的5部提名影
片。
第83届奥斯卡提名将于明年1月25日(周二)公布，颁奖典礼则将于2月27日(周日
)举办。

澳大利亚有一条以热播剧《权力的游戏》中兰尼斯特姐弟命名的道路，然而因剧中姐弟
乱伦，当地市民强烈要求改名。
据BBC8月25日报道，位于澳大利亚维多利亚州吉隆的查尔孟特花园别墅区（Charlemont
Rise），有很多路名取自《权力的游戏》：凯特琳路（Catelyn Road）、史坦尼斯路
（Stannis Road）、凛冬路（Winterfall Road）、葛雷乔伊街（Greyjoy Street）、
贝里席车道（Baelish Drive）、泰温街（Tywin Street）……
不过最近，有一条名叫Lannaster Road的路被更名为Precinct Road。
原本的路名出自兰尼斯特姐弟。
但考虑到詹姆o兰尼斯特（Jaime Lannister）和瑟曦o兰尼斯特（Cersei Lannister）
存在不伦关系，当地社区做出更名决定，新名字与《权力的游戏》没有任何关系。
