毕业找工作很纠结，女朋友在加州，但是加州EE Power方向工作机会不多，想问问版上
工作了的朋友，毕业第一份工作该何去何从？
目前加州有个小公司的offer，还在等书面offer和出价。做软件的公司，感觉公司规模
不大，不知道该不该从，如果不是location在CA是完全不考虑的，怕公司小了不稳定，
不能申请绿卡。
目前拿到GE consulting engineer intern，希望能够temp to perm。想问问有没有做
power consulting方面的同志，
也收到Siemens二面通知，EE engineer，还未面试
我的问题是：
1）phd毕业后第一份工作是不是一定要去大公司比较好？两年后攒点经验或是熬到绿卡
后再跳槽去中小型公司是不是容易些？
2）power方向phd是走research lab方向好呢， 还是走software软件开发好？我个人

“正能量”里的这个能量（power），有点儿像电力火力这种energy，指的是这么个实
际的东西。具体的能量，可以很弱，比如体能；也可以很强，比如原子能。
而第一个power的意思，是强度，是“力量”。如果我们说，今天叫你知道一下我的
power！意思是，要你知道我的厉害。所以两个power不是一样的。
如果不中英混杂，可以说：“正能量的力量”，也可以说：“The Power of Positive

以前就知道练三大，看了版上发的 Weightlifting Performance Standards，昨天也顺
便去体育馆试了下power clean, power snatch.
power clean还比较简单，先练了下硬拉耸肩两组，翻臂两组，front squat两组, 然后
随便就做了115磅。
然后，就开始玩power snatch, 发现这个不是一般的难掌握啊，先试了直接抓起，75磅
都觉得不稳，然后举着深蹲，平衡非常难掌握，浑身发抖。
问问，power snatch, 有什么更好的分组练习方法吗？另外，有什么诀窍，该特别注意
的地方吗？ |

What's the difference between them? Why two kinds of power supply are
offered?

可是杂志编辑在文章首页用了一张很大的没有台湾岛的中国地图（看附件），不知道你
们看了有什么感受，反正我是不舒服。所以我就发email给杂志主编表示我的不满，可
是一直没有回应，估计是我人单力薄，所以我希望能在本版上找找人气。
其实我们都知道好多美国人（甚至有些地图）都认为台湾和大陆是两个国家，但是美国
官方向来都只承认一个中国（不管是PRC还是ROC)。我们这些在国外的可能也没什么机
会/能力给祖国出上大力，但有关面子上的小忙还是可以帮的。因此我希望大家能不能

做 social network 的人都知道 power law。它是一个概率分布，其密度函数有一
条很长的尾巴，而如果在 log-log scale 下画出来呢是一条直线。power law 在现
实生活中很普遍，大抵大家举得最多的例子就是一个图里面节点的度服从 power law
分布。而除了大家研究得很多的图之外呢，好几十年前 Simon 同学就说人的收入
看着似乎也服从这个分布。这样一来就有问题了。大家都说美国好啊，美国的中产阶
级占多数，有钱人和穷人相对来说没那么多。一个读了博士的 wsn，好歹也能混个中
产阶级，比上不足比下有余。要真这样的话，美国人的收入就明显不是 power law
分布了。咋回事呢？
换过来看中国。大家都说中国人的收入就一金字塔，有钱人很有钱，但不多，没钱
的人穷得揭不开锅，遍布全中国。这看着就一赤果果的 power law。难不成这样才 |

better than US 'Hard Power", China has evacuated all her citizens(more 35,
000) from Libya in a few days and where are US citizens now?
And, because of this Soft Power does not present any threat to any
sovereignty of any nation, China will be the first to go back to Libya once
it restores its order, regardless who will be in power by that time. I bet,
US does not have this luck. |

周三（6月21日），美国权威汽车评级机构J.D. Power公布年度汽车质量调查结果，韩
国起亚（Kia）汽车公司再次夺得排行榜冠军。
据《今日美国》（USA TODAY）网站报导，这已经是连续第二年，起亚汽车在汽车业界
对质量最详尽调查排名中获得第一名。
该公司是韩国现代汽车企业集团的一部分，另一个该集团出产的豪华型汽车品牌捷恩斯
（Genesis），获得此次排名的第二名。
J.D. Power的汽车质量调查是根据所有品牌汽车车主在购买新车后，最初90天内所发现
