polyelectrolyte will offer two stabilization effects, electro and steric.
the zeta potentail can be zero but there are still steric effects. try to dip
it into a positivly charged salt solution, you will find the latex will be
coagulated instead.

Hi guys,
I have met a "simple" problem in understanding polyelectrolyte multilayer.
Why it is possible to get "over-compensate of charge" when an opposite
charged polyelectrolyte is coated?
suppose you start from negatively charged latex, then dip it into positivly
charged polyelectrolyte, then you get positively chatged particles |
