在美国洛杉矶华人聚集区之一的蒙特利公园市，一项眼科健康调查（CHES：CHINESE
AMERICAN EYE STUDY）正在华人社区中展开。
奇怪的眼科检查
在美国定居多年的华人王丁（化名）参与了这项调查，现在他开始为这个调查感到百思
不得其解：“说检查眼睛为何要获取我的血样和DNA？”。
这一切要从9月说起，王丁当时接到CHES工作人员的电话，征询他是否愿意参加这项眼
科健康调查计划。60多岁的王丁眼睛不太好，当他看到这样的免费服务，而且又是当地
一家有名的眼科医院检测，他满口答应下来。
在当地，眼科检查至少要收取65美元的挂号费，如果再加一些眼科治疗，费用可能在几
百美元甚至上千美元，王丁说：“CHES不仅不收费，而且还承诺25美元的车马费。”对
很多像王丁这样的普通华人来说，这是一个诱惑。

BS. Do you even put those words through your brain before you regurgitate
them?
Chinese death rate is 7 per thousand, while birth rate is 12 per thousand.
How on earth would population drop dramatically when birth rate is over 50%
higher than death rate? The death rate would have to nearly double to even
have stable population.
The only causes for the kind of dramatic drop in population you described
would be famine, disease, or war. And all of them are commonly caused by
over population. |

world’s most populous country are married to gays.
Professor Zhang Bei-chuan of Qingdao University says the huge number of
women – equivalent to the population of the Netherlands – who have tied
the knot with gay men are struggling to cope.
Speaking to state-run China Daily, the academic said as many as 90% of gay
Chinese men marry to conform with social norms.

they're in prison than if they aren't, suggests a new study of North
Carolina inmates.
The black prisoners seemed to be especially protected against alcohol- and
drug-related deaths, as well as lethal accidents and certain chronic
diseases.
But that pattern didn't hold for white men, who on the whole were slightly
more likely to die in prison than outside, according to findings published

black gay and bisexual men, U.S. experts said on Wednesday.
