多市湖水水质世界一流
本地主流媒体《多伦多星报》的记者近日在本市著名的Woodbine 湖滩观察，尽管赤日炎炎，但是却少有人下水游泳。本地一位名叫斯巴克斯(Tamia Sparks)的母亲表示，自己每周都带着7岁的女儿来湖边，但是只允许她在湖滩上玩玩沙子，却不许下水。
这位母亲表示，自己对多伦多的水质不太放心，不希望孩子下水后皮肤被感染。
多伦多水质局发言人圣胡安女士(Cheryl San Juan)解释，很多人以为本地的湖滩靠近人口密集的大都市，所以水质难有保障，这完全是过虑。其实，多伦多几处大型的湖滩都是“世界级”的优良游泳场地。在本市11个有救生员值日的大型湖滩中，6个达到了国际认证的水质、卫生、安全、服务的高标准，并获颁蓝旗标志(Blue Flag)。
