On Linux, Firefox requires JRE 1.4.2 or later.
Firefox is compiled with gcc 3.2.3, so a compatible version of the
Java plugin must be used. JRE 1.4.2 contains a compatible plugin.

Can not understand you comments about Eclipse.
Yes, it is more than an IDE, it's a platform. If you are not plugin developer,
you do not need to learn how to make eclipse plugin.
The amount of plugins and community support for eclipse are unbeatable. E.g.,
the first tool support for Hibernate and Struts come up with is eclipse
plugin.

Some plugin will build the war file for each hot deploy, which sucks. It's
slow and the server easily runs out of memory after several hot deploys
One plugin will just deploy the changed java/jsp/property files, normally
you dont need to restart the server
It just depends on whether you are using those extra help. I personally does
not use that much. To be clear, I use spring in my work, just do not use
spring plug-in for Eclipse. Actually, I use netbean mostly, which has less
plugin than eclipse. But some plugin in eclipse is so buggy and slow that I
cannot bear. Netbeans also has spring plugin and their plugins seems runs
smoother.

relatively hard to make it suitable for all browser. i.e. most firefox

I owned Linn Classik for 5 years. Doing great job. You won't regret it.
I sold mine a few months ago to a buddy also on mitbbs. He enjoyed it a lot.
The only tricky thing about Linn Classik is that the plugin at the power-amp
terminal is called "BFA plugin", different from normal banana plugin. These
are UK standard for Linn/Arcam. You may need to purchase them (pretty cheap
) from ebay or local Linn/Arcam dealer.
