interview 还是需要体力的, 否则回答问题会大失水准. 你别在一周安排太多out of
town的interview.
投资银行是不太妙. Univ of Penn 的Ph.D 去了2 个interviews, 说竞争很激烈,
而且工作非常辛苦, 没过多久身体都会透支. 然后去医院报到了.
咨询公司会受经济不景气的影响吗? 我不知道if other company can't survive,
who pay them for consulting. They may lay off later.
还是学校好混, 尤其是女faculty, 是男生多的专业的紧俏商品.
我前后碰到好几个男Ph.D , 在interview 时输给了女的, 向我抱怨说
性别歧视. 谁叫他们技不如人呢? 如果他们是比人家好一个数量级,

大家知道物理系是不太好找工作的吗?
通常实验物理的情况好一些, 但也要编程能力强, 英文好, paper质量高, 数量够, 导
师牛, 自己也要过得硬. 关键是专业方向不能机会太少, 否则就得自己早日打算.
Dr. X 知道自己的理论物理专业不太好找faculty, 干脆把目标放到其他国家去了.
毕竟他是名校的, 学得也还可以, 世界那么大, 他和做faculty的太太一起去了美国以
外的一所新学校. 太太教书, 他教数学建模. 这样一来, 他们比在美国两地分居强多了.
Dr. B面临找博士后的时候, 干脆转行去了Medical Physics, 他估计Wall Street不稳
定, 果然不出所料, 现在那里哀鸿遍野, 他在医院的日子很好过. 而且在做学生的时候
, 他就和美国同学住, 所以英文交流绝对没太大问题. 后来他让太太也干这行了. 这一

有做奶油下面，蛋糕的方子吗？
料：whipping cream 一小盒(sorry,忘记是多少容量)，white sugar 1/4 cup,
stabilizer for whipping cream (打发鲜奶油时加“Stabilizer for whipping cream
”可以使打发的鲜奶油更加光滑细腻，且形状稳定),香草精（Vanilla extract）2
drops
入装有碎裂冰块的大盆里,用hand mixer先高速打发3-4分钟，然后中速打3分钟后，直
至硬性发泡(跟打发蛋白是一样)，糖在打发奶油的过程中分3次加入.判断鲜奶油打发成
硬性发泡的标准是提起hand mixer，奶油呈尖角状。把装奶油的盆倒过来，奶油也不会
落下来。
是"Lucky Leaf"牌的Peach - pie filling and topping,个人很喜欢这个口味,包括了
水果和糖浆,盖上后再抹奶油,最后用挤花袋做装饰,我用的工具是#18和#103,petal and
shell shape.然后用橙色的糖霜加挤花工具再做装饰,等都弄好后再铺上你喜欢的水果

呵呵，可能只能算年记了。因为今年的感恩节对我来说有点特别，因为上周刚刚拿到工
作offer，说感恩节之后开始上班。算得上是人生的一个转变了。当学生当得太久，对
于这个新的开始还是充满期待的。在这个感恩的日子，我首先要感谢两个最重要人，我
的一半儿，还有妈妈。
一半儿总说我这个人让他操碎了心，但他还是那么不厌其烦的帮助我。无论是学习还是
生活，我总是依赖着他，什么事搞不定了先想到要问他该怎么办，赶进度着急上火的时
候要找他寻求心理安慰。就这么被他推着，拽着，一个一个任务都渐渐完成了，毕业的
目标，找工作的目标也都达成了，在这个过程中我也学到了很多，渐渐的成长起来。亲
爱的一半儿，感谢你，我最大的感谢就是以后努力上你少操点心：P。 然后，是要感谢

美元和人民币的比率已经跌破 1:部7.45, 以前的留美学生所习惯的1:8的换算也可以调
整了.
找工作的策略也一样.
现在有些jobless Ph.D(International Students from China), 即便 从Univeristy
of Penn, Johns Hopkins University生产出来, 也因为种种原因待业.
原因是
1. 他们的OPT 还是一年, 不到万不得已, 雇主不想要这样的短工.
2. 很多原来sponsor H1B visa 的单位因为H1Bcap(65,000+20,000) 太少, 干脆不
招International Students 了.
3. 今年毕业的International Students 还必须在明年和2007年没有抽到H1B名额的
人竞争.
4. 很多人不愿回国,宁肯在美国找工作. 其实国内的情况也在变 |

1.resume and cover letter
Grammar and spelling mistakes are common. 一封申请书不好好改就发出去,自己还
以为发信数量多. 但质量第一呀.
很多人Cover Letter 还是欠功夫. 明显没好好读过.
2. 喜欢在网上找工作, 去job fair, 或是找广告.
这些办法并不是不可以用, 但他们的成功率不高. 要探索适合自己的, 效率高的办法.
3. 每天对自己的时间缺乏安排.
If you are jobless, 每周要至少花40 hour 找工作.
4. 少数人依赖思想太重.
导师牛是一回事, 指望他帮你找工作不是很现实, 得看你自己的本事.
平时要多积累. 很多问题要学会自己思考, 动不动就到网上问, 那你interview 时问谁?
5. 少数人不重诚信, 比较自私, lack of |

我最怕那些夸夸其谈的人了. 名校的毕业生, 然后就来拿着文凭show off, but it is his past.
结果我一上来就用English Interview, 能真正流利回答的也不是那样多. 很多人说来
还是我的alumni, 但跟我套交情也没有用, 要是不qualify, 我哪敢推荐. 还有人出自
名校, 自我感觉良好, 结果找工作时只有一个地方要他. 那倒是名牌大公司, 可惜人家
知道他没有其他选择, 趁机杀价(他们还有其他candidates). 他没办法, 只好答应. 这
位还算好的, 至少有一个offer. 我还见过当时号称不发愁没人要的主, 到后来又来找
volunteer 的工作, 因为他的人缘实在不好, 干活还不怎样, 连老板都没兴趣推荐他.
