July 31, 2009: Earth is entering a stream of dusty debris from Comet Swift-
Tuttle, the source of the annual Perseid meteor shower. Although the shower
won't peak until August 11th and 12th, the show is already getting underway.

beach and watch the Perseids meteor shower, which is from 8/9-14. We
typically go to Marconi beach, which has virtually no light but is safe with
a lot of people.
During the day, there's nothing very interesting to do besides going to a

8月13日是农历七夕节，天宫也送上了一份“大礼”。当天凌晨，一年一度的英仙
座流星雨将如约而至，为这个传统节日增添了一丝浪漫。此外，八月份的天象还包括8
月27日的海王星冲日等。
英仙座流星雨与象限仪座流星雨、双子座流星雨并称为北半球三大流星雨，因为流
量大，而且发挥稳定，很受欢迎。据科大天文爱好者介绍，今年英仙座流星雨流量极大
，大约出现在北京时间8月13日凌晨2时至4时，不仅每小时流星数量达到100颗左右，而
且后半夜观测不会受到月光干扰。
流星雨谢幕之后，作为太阳系中公转周期最长、轨道半长径最大的一颗行星，海王
星将在8月27日上演冲日表演。不过以海王星的亮度，我们直接用肉眼看到它是不可能
的。如果在光污染很小的郊外，使用简单的望远镜就可以在星海中找到它。当然寻找这
