Atlantic: How America Can Rise Again
Author: James Fallows
http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2010/12/how-america-can-rise-again/7839/
January/ February 2010
The Atlantic's James Fallows reacts to fears of American decline, pointing
to unwarranted cries of imminent doom throughout American history, but also
worries that the system of government needs fixing in order for the U.S. to
maintain its strength.
Since coming back to the United States after three years away in China, I

How America Can Rise Again
Is America going to hell? After a year of economic calamity that many fear has sent us into irreversible decline, the author finds reassurance in the peculiarly American cycle of crisis and renewal, and in the continuing strength of the forces that have made the country great: our university system, our receptiveness to immigration, our culture of innovation. In most significant ways, the U.S. remains the envy of the world. But here’s the alarming problem: our governin...

This guy said better than what I can, not necessarily for MB diesel, but you
get the drill.
"diesel fuel is a lubricant in itself, low RPMs definitely help drivetrain
and engine components last longer, but diesels last longer because of two
main factors....
number one, they are built tough as hell, they use iron blocks and iron
heads. thick iron has a better fatigue life that aluminum or milled steel.
diesels must sustain a very high compression ratio, so therefore they tend
to make those iron s...

The keyword that CA is different is "migration". California after all is an
attractive place to live.
So in crash, We bottom out when unemployment goes up and migration exits the
state. But in bubble, employment improves and migration of people favors
California over other destinations, when everyone can get a job anywhere.
The rest is supply and demand.
California actually doesn't have significant overbuild in the last bubble (
except maybe cities like stockton, merced), what happened to the de...

Point is: what price you are looking at, and what is the price distribution in
N. Scottsdale?
Besides, I think Scottsdale is the one with highest risk for further price drop due to its inventory level, 8 month supply vs. 3 month supply for other towns. It will have a slow and long correction.

San

you don't need to worry about it. all you can do is looking out for cracks
in the highly stressed parts of the frame, like the chainstay-bottom bracket
area, downtube-headtube weld, etc.
the way they overbuild aluminum frames is they set a target life cycle, more
than vast majority of the riders' needs. say, for example, 5 years @ 10k
miles/yr by a 170lbs rider with a peak force on pedal ~600lbs. safety margin
/redundancy is then added--say, the frame should last over 10 years @
20kmiles/yr by 3
