，还好室友也是中国人，很照顾我。可是大家都是男人，咱也不能以身相许，那只好心
里暗暗感激了。
先介绍下自己，在OGI工作，博后，搞人工智能的，年方29。OGI在个挺偏的
地，还好俺住的也挺偏，所以两个地方离的比较近。但是出行实在不方便（除了去工作
），俺现在也没车没照，但是刚来时刻都想出去玩，然心有余而力不足，室友上班比较
忙，很无奈，只好天天跟我说找女友的事来麻醉我，动不动就让我上MITBBS的鹊桥上看
看。但我知道那很难。
现在我唯一的奢望是附近的兄弟姐妹们吃喝玩乐的时候，叫上俺一声，能接我一下就更
感激了。好了，也没啥别的了，本文重点就是前头这一句。 |

1. Oregongirl说的那个应该是"鸭子河"了(或者是小溪), 是在97229的范围里. 沿着小
溪可以走很远的, 有不少人常在那儿喂鸭子, 钓鱼的.
2. 事物同学说的"鸭子湖"在97006的范围里, 那儿的鸭子有减少的迹象. 因为OGI的消
失, 人气也不高了.
3. 在这两个地方之间还有ROCK CREEK APT(185th 和Rock Creek BLVD交口）里有三个
一串的水塘, 那水面应该不比事物同学说的"鸭子湖"小, 那儿也有不少的鸭子, 每天也
有不少人在那儿喂鸭子的.
4. 据说, 在TV Highway上有一个地方卖面包, 一块钱四袋(片面包), 是喂鸭子的首选. |

管理系的学生，却走上了文学之路。有人说交大能培养出多种人才，对此我是认同的。
我于1942年考进交大。那时正值抗战，
交大在徐家汇的校园被日寇占领，迁到法租界爱麦虞限路办学，我就在那里度过了三年多
时光。1945年抗战胜利后，交大恢复到徐家汇原校址上课，我在那里度过了最后的大学生
活。
交大是理工科学校，学风很严谨，气氛比较严肃，但学生的人文素质普遍较高，师生
中爱好诗文的不乏其人。在母亲的教导下，我从小对文学、特别是诗歌有着浓厚的兴趣。
进交大后，迅速找到了两个志同道合的同学董庆煊和毕华珠，发起成立了一个名为“南洋
诗文社”的学生团体。我们和一些热心文学的同学如陈祖楫、徐振乾等一起，每个星期都
聚会活动一两次。
当年交大的绝大部分课程，基本上都是用英语讲授。尤其是唐庆诒先生的授课，我毕
生难忘，他对我产生了很大的影响，为我从事英国文学的翻译播下了种子。

For database, Stanford and Wisconsin are traditionally the best. MIT is
traditionally weak. Washington and Cornell are as good as CMU/Berkeley/UIUC in
terms of general school/cs ranking and database research. Purdue, Michigan,
UCSD, Columbia, OHSU (OGI), Maryland, and UPenn also have very good database
groups and are very comparable to the above ones.
